I find it absolutely ridiculous that speaking of the first deathmetal album no one mentions "Bestial Devastation" and "Morbid Visions" by Sepultura, '85 and '86 respectively. That is DEFINITELY deathmetal.

Love this interview. Two coolest dudes ever. "Dreams," from Spider's Lullaby rules. I love obscure King and Mercyful albums. In fact, most people say their favorite Mercyful album is "Don't Break The Oath," but mine is "9." That album is so fucking evil and vicious. Dead Again is awesome too. Another one of my favorites is "Time." 🤘

The last song you're talking about on the Spider's Lullabye demo is Dreams. It's one of the best 90s demos ever, I find King's vocals better on those demos than the final album versions of those songs but either way Spider's Lullabye rules

I first heard Venom in 1981 when I bought the "In League with Satan" import single on Neat records. They preceded Mercyful Fate by just a little. They used to have a feud going in the press, Cronos would talk loud shit about King "Billy" and call 'em rip offs and posers. I still listen (and love) Mercy, Venom not so much.
