As do I .So many times We remember the killers name more than the victims of violent crimes , example in Charles Manson and the Manson family ,We remember Sharon Tate's name because She was famous before that but We don't always do that when it's everyday people like most of Us that were the victims .I make a point to always remember the names of victims in every case and many true crime U tubers put the victims names more up front also .

Fun Fact: The person who called in with the tip about Vincent Tabak was his own girlfriend who claimed she'd been away for a few days and when she got back he told her that his neighbour had been murdered (not missing - murdered!) then seemed to take way too keen of an interest in the entire case.

that doesn’t really mean much, people all over the world are obsessed with the Idaho murders (which also ironically have everyone claiming anyone and everyone guilty of murders for stupid irrelevant reasons) that doesn’t make everyone guilty. So crazy how you never hear of a man strangling, smothering, or otherwise restraining another man to calm him down
@glamdolly30
@glamdolly30 Жыл бұрын
Yep - funny that. Almost as strange as the fact strangling someone to death takes 4 - 5 minutes - it takes focus and determination, and allows plenty of time before you end the person's life to let go and not kill them. Vincent Tabak was enacting a long-held, perverted fantasy of sexual violence on his neighbour Joanna Yeates - that was in his mind when he realised she was alone, knocked on her door and talked his way into her flat on some false pretext. There was nothing accidental about this crime! His internet history was full of dark strangulation/necrophilia porn, which confirmed his motive. He may look like a harmless accountant - poor Joanna was fooled and it cost her her life. But Vincent Tabak is a highly dangerous sex predator. He will always pose a serious risk of harm to women and children, and must never be released from prison.

You wouldn't hear of a man doing that to another man since it isn't as sensationalized. Just because the media doesn't report on it doesn't mean it can't or hasn't happened. There are a number of differing scenarios that prove this.

Strangulation takes 4-5 minutes - and yet Tabak claimed he killed her unintentionally. I call bullshit. 4 minutes is a long time - long enough to recognise what you are doing is wrong, come to your senses and stop. Tabak's internet history showed an obsessive interest in necrophilia porn - he was clearly getting off on the whole thing. He's a highly dangerous pervert, who would always kill a woman or child (he viewed child porn too), when an opportunity presented itself. This video paints Vincent Tabak as a mid-40s loner, but in reality he was just 32 at the time of the murder and socially successful with a live-in girlfriend, a prestigious professional career and a circle of loyal friends (so loyal, they protested his innocence to the media after he was charged, saying he wasn't capable of such an horrific crime). If Tabak had been the stereotypical lonely loser this video suggests, police may have recognised him as prime suspect from the start - he was the victim's next door neighbour, after all! But because he appeared well groomed, successful and conventional, with a girlfriend and a happy life, police didn't suspect him - and worse, allowed themselves to be manipulated by him when he pointed the finger at his innocent landlord Christopher Jeffries. It was pretty obvious early on Joanne Yeates abduction/murder was sexually motivated. Her body had been removed from her flat, driven some miles away and dumped, so her killer was almost certainly a straight male with the necessary youth and strength to not only kill her, but to deal with her dead body afterwards. Smart police work would have discounted the elderly, small, frail and homosexual Christopher Jeffries early on!

Who says she was drunk??? She had some drinks with friends! It could of been pop. I hate that the defense sets out to make the VICTIM into a drunken girl who was missing her boyfriend so much she wanted to have sex with a loser she didn’t even know 😡
@glamdolly30
@glamdolly30 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, revolting misogyny and victim-blaming. Joanne Yeates didn't drink to excess, she was actually pretty staid in her habits, held down a professional career, paid her taxes, obeyed the law and lived quietly with her equally respectable boyfriend. But even if she had been roaring drunk and invited Tabak, a close neighbour, to join her for a mince pie and a Christmas kiss, or even sex (look at him - not likely!) it did not give him any excuse to put his hands around her neck, tighten them and shut off her oxygen supply for 4-5 minutes, ending her life! Defence lawyers should not be allowed to besmirch the reputation of victims, when they advocate for their killer client. It's only ever done to female victims of sex crimes - you will never hear the victim of a mugging criticised in court for carrying a wallet, or a home owner blamed for the fact someone broke in and burgled him! Internet searches showed Tabak had a perverted obsession with necrophilia porn - he obviously got off killing Joanna Yeates and was enacting a long-held sexual fantasy. The guy was a pervert who was always going to kill a woman or child (he viewed child porn too), when an opportunity arose. Vincent Tabak looked like a meek, harmless 32 year old professional, but was a highly dangerous predator. Anyone who commits a sexually motivated killing should automatically be locked up for life. Sex killers cannot be rehabilitated, therefore they will always present a risk of serious harm to the focus of their warped lust (usually women and children).

The absolute horrible press coverage demeaning and ignoring his true character was unreasonable. Not only did he have to be concerned about going to trial for a crime he knew nothing about he was also deprived any basic right of innocent until being proven guilty. A few key points: 1. The reason the police renewed interest in Vincent was because during the first interview of him and his girlfriend, he asked her to lie and say she was at home that night. She later recanted her story, admitting she was miles away at a party, fueled in part by her suspicion that Vincent was obsessively following the story on the news. 2. Vincent's degree or whatever he studied in crowd or spatial management gave him the idea to go into stores and plant himself in front of security cameras to give himself an alibi. 3. The landlord was the first suspect because Vincent told detectives that he had seen the man park his car in the opposite direction with the booth facing the front, raising suspicion that he had done so to load a body. Otherwise, very well told story as usual.

I'm very local to this and walked past the house in question several time a week on the way to buy groceries (still do, in fact) It was quite a shock to be so nearby. I also remember some colleagues at the time commenting on Mr. Jeffries appearance (particularly his wild hair), "Oh yes he's definitely guilty, besides, he must be because they released his name." Even after Tabak was convicted and his name was cleared, some of them were still convinced he was involved because "He looks dodgy". Just to clarify also, you mentioned that The Sun was a local Tabloid, but it's actually a National one here in the UK, unfortunately one of the largest too. Thank-you for your presentation :)

Bristolian and avid follower of this case here. You've covered this one well, I was looking forward to you getting around to it, and the video didn't disappoint. One thing you perhaps haven't quite picked up on is how much the awful way the police and the press treated Christopher Jefferies cast a shadow over the whole case, and the eventual conviction of Tabak. The Avon and Somerset police basically just picked up the nearest local 'weirdo' - in this case Jefferies, and tried to bully him into confessing to a crime he had nothing to do with, while the press tried to publicly destroy his reputation. When this came out, it obviously made people wary when they landed on Tabak, as after all, all they had done was moved on to the next closest "weirdo" - the awkward foreigner next door, and the police and press employed the same strategy they had with Jefferies. At least partly as a result, there are still a contingent of people who believe Tabak is innocent, and he just caved under the pressure the establishment applied to solve a high profile case quickly. The behaviour of the police and the press did a lot to erode public trust, especially locally, in both institutions, unfortunately rightly so.

Excellent post. I think this video badly misjudged the whole Christopher Jeffries scandal, an innocent man who was arrested for murder on the real killer's say-so, and then crucified in the national media! There are many errors in this video, which aside from the fact an American unfamiliar with English geography made it, suggest sub-standard research. Vincent Tabak was not 'in his mid 40s' when he murdered Joanna Yeates - he is 44 now, but was only 32 when he committed the crime back in 2010. Nor was Tabak a 'loner' as stated - on the contrary he was socially successful, lived with an attractive and popular girlfriend, held down a prestigious professional career as an architectural engineer, and had a loyal circle of friends. So loyal that many protested his innocence after he was charged with murder, not believing Tabak capable of such an horrific, sexually motivated murder. Vincent Tabak was no lonely weirdo stereotype - which is no doubt why police didn't initially consider him a suspect, despite him being the right age and living next door to the victim. Instead detectives allowed the sly Tabak to manipulate them into arresting innocent Christopher Jeffries, who ironically appeared to fit the eccentric loner profile far better than Tabak, the actual killer. It's disappointing the picture research was poor too, using photos of actor Jason Watkins who played Christopher Jeffries in a 2014 ITV drama on the case, instead of photos of the real Christopher Jeffries! Incidentally, if Jeffries got some financial compensation after his character was destroyed by the national media, a trauma so serious he considered suicide, I say good for him! Why is that 'hypocritical, or in any way cause for criticism? Financial compensation is the very least that poor man deserved!

I agree, but over 500k is awesome. Those with over a million have FAR too many trolls, trust me I witness it daily. Jiles has 593 thousand true fans, and that is great. He is very popular, this channel comes up in every conversation about the best true crime creators on youtube. If you look at Matt Orchard, Dave’s Lemonade and Disturbing Truth, they’re ALL top-notch just like Jiles, but their numbers aren’t in the millions and they are very popular. I find the conversations on these channels much more intellectual, as opposed to some with over a million subs and who knows how many trolls-lots! Take care

Random fact - Joanna Yeates' maternal grandmother was a woman called Gwen Troake, who found fame in the 'seventies as the amateur cook who inadvertently ended legendary TV chef Fanny Cradock's career during a notorious TV appearance (Google for details). Gwen died in 1978, before Joanna's birth, so knew nothing of her granddaughter - perhaps a blessing, in view of her tragic murder by Vincent Tabak..

Was that the appearance where Fanny Craddock was an absolute bitch about a lovely ladies cooking? And absolutely showed her true colours? I scrolled down, wondering if anyone had noticed this. There are a number of instances of Jason Watkins’ picture being used throughout the video. Also, Tabak’s age changes from “his mid forties” at the beginning, to being 32 when he was arrested.
@glamdolly30
@glamdolly30 Жыл бұрын
@@incisorboy Yes getting Tabak's age so wrong was another very basic error. He is 44 now (in 2022), but was just 32 at the time of the murder in 2010. Tabak was also socially successful, with an attractive, gregarious live-in girlfriend, a prestigious professional career (popular among his colleagues), and a circle of loyal friends. So he was a million miles from the middle aged loner this video presents him as! If Tabak had been the stereotypical lonely loser described in this video, police might have recognised much sooner he was the prime suspect. It's because he was apparently so conventional and lived an apparently happy, conventional life, that police didn't suspect him. Instead they stupidly allowed him to point the finger at his innocent landlord Christopher Jeffries - and made him prime suspect! If detectives had only applied some common sense, they'd have realised Jeffries was a highly unlikely suspect for the sexually motivated murder and disposal of a woman. First of all he was homosexual - so the victim wouldn't have been targeted by him. Also Jeffries was elderly, small and slight, and would have struggled to transport and dump the body. Vincent Tabak however was an obvious suspect for the crime - a young, fit and strong heterosexual male residing next door to the victim, whose internet history revealed some warped fantasy fuel in the form of necrophilia and other violent porn websites, as well as vile child pornography.
