I do agree though that it probably wouldn’t work well. I don’t really know much about his stream but something tells me it’s not a good idea lol

@@perfectnothingg the vibe of his stream is usually about just not taking much seriously. Every so often he'll get on a topic, or just come up with a bit and he'll interrupt the game for it. It's fun but Omori is too serious at times so it would either ruin story moments or his usual stream dynamic.

Given what I've heard of Omori, it would probably end like how Undertale did: Everyone screaming at Joel to do a certain thing to get the best ending right out of the gate and nobody is happy at the end.

Yume Nikki still stands out as my favourite game for so many reasons and I'm so happy to see that Joel has played it.

About that red man story, I've experienced something similar. I used to play this game called Defenders of Texel, or DOT for short. Around that time, they were just starting to add defenders to the new highest rank, Legendary. I distinctly remember having a dream of a defender that was added to the game and when I woke up I distinctly remember saying something along the lines of: "that thing looked stupid, they would never add something like that to the game, especially to Legendary" about to weeks later, they added a defender called Pazuzu, a legendary. It looked exactly like the defender I had seen in my dream. Needless to say, I was shocked. It's definitely weird how dreams are able to see things ahead of time, makes you question things.

For those unfamiliar with this game, here's a major TW I wish I had when I played it: . . . . . Suicide. The easiest and most well-known ending to get is the girl commits suicide by jumping off the building. It made me feel a bit better seeing all the goofy memes NicoNico have made of how she falls and is fine but I really still think the ending fucking sucks. I did just discover there's an alternative ending where she instead dreams of commiting suicide but then actually goes outside, but there's still that very uncomfortable theme.

I know that there's a manga for Yume Nikki, and the ending suggests that the whole thing was a dream, and her committing suicide at the end was her waking up. But I'm not entirely sure if the manga is meant to canon or not.

Sorry, just double checked and there is another ending I never knew about where she wakes up after committing suicide in a dream. I edited my original comment to reflect that.

The ending is open to interpretation: the suicide may not be literal, but rather Madotsuki finally "waking up" for real. It could be that all of Yume Nikki is a dream within a dream. The vagueness of the ending, particularly with the weird jellyfish things making an appearance, I think makes it quite a fitting conclusion. Also, imho, giving "trigger warnings" is entirely counter-productive: you're putting the idea of the potentially triggering event in people's heads before it even occurs in the story, creating more unnecessary anxiety for those afflicted.
