I’m watching this because I only recently started watching Vinny and I’m a huge PZ fan and the amount of times he just lets them hurt him and the way he just runs straight into them while fighting them instead of keeping his distance is so painful 😭

He just throws himself at them full speed and never uses any caution. You don't need a weapon to be effective in Zomboid from what I've experienced, the best thing you can do is move smart.

They still don't do much stealth either, this seems like one of those games where stealth is very overpowered. I know it wouldn't be fun for the viewers to watch them all sneaking through trees and bushes all the time, but I feel like it would be more fun in the long run since they won't be constantly struggling with wounds and infections. It'll probably help to at least focus on stealth at the beginning until they've found eachother and built a secure base, the wounds keep slowing them down way more than any boring old stealth moments and seems alot more tedious to deal with overall switching out bandages and such every 5 seconds. I don't wanna tell them how to play though, that's just how I'd play it.

FYI: Having an infected wound doesn't mean you have the zombie virus. They're just normal wound infections. The game doesn't tell you if you've been infected with it. You can only tell by symptoms of queasiness and anxiety. Bites have 100% transmission, lacerations 25% and scratches 7%. To prevent or deal with an infected wound, keep your wound bandaged, clean, and disinfect it and the bandages.

@@zantanzuken Oh, yeah. Both from the many injuries and from the zombification risk. That's why I personally like to turn off blood infection and just play with bite infection, it seems frustrating getting certain death from a random injury, but ones like this can still legitimately kill you if not treated correctly.

@@gnupfo i play on always infected, so even if you have a bite wound, it'll just make you really sick (like, feverish, close to death) and most of the time you can get over it, either through eating/sleep/rest or medication. makes the antibiotics worth something because most people once they reach late stage infected (fever, etc) just kill themselves or get killed.

Vinny, tell your friends and YOU, check your Multiplayer Settings. THERE IS AN OPTION TO LEAVE KEYS IN CARS. Otherwise only you can drive a car, your character automatically takes the keys out when they leave the vehicle.

The best combat tactic is to backpedal while holding right click then hitting/shoving and releasing right click when you get close to being grabbed. Zombie melee fighting is one of the riskiest things in this game because any zombie wound has the chance to kill you in 3-4 days, you have to be very patient and minimize risk at all costs when fighting them.

After some time when the zombie outbreak spreads, things will start to break down. Live TV and radio will stop, electricity will be cut and lastly even the city's water supply will run out. You will have to prepare by stockpiling water, light sources, preserved food, collect rainwater and start growing food yourself. You should start making a walled garden asap (and board up your house while you're at it). There is also a well somewhere on the map. But the most important thing to remember is to be sneaky. Don't get seen or heard. This means turn off the lights, radio's and TV's and then close the curtains whenever you enter a building. Only turn the lights on when the windows are blocked. Especially when you go to sleep. And sneak when there are zombies around! All the running makes you tired and scared and you become super inefficient at fighting. And don't rely on pushing zombo's with your hands, you're gonna get bit and eventually die from the zombie virus since there is no cure. Find a melee weapon ASAP to keep them at a distance, anything with some reach works at this point, like a sauce pan. You can run away from a horde and you don't even need to run far. Just get out of their sight and enter a building like a true burglar, getting in through a window in the back is usually the safest, some may come round the corner but you will already be inside where they can't find you.

@@jamesmccomb9525 zomboid is a game best played slowly. Loads of smaller content creators have some really awesome zomboid starting out tutorials/tips, but any tips from me would be to walk away if you’re getting surrounded. Zombies ai by default aren’t faster than your base walking speed (this is without crouching or with injuries or other moodles slowing you down) so making a beeline towards a building with an unlocked door can save ur ass. Close the door right behind you and find another exit, and run from there. Avoid confrontation (and using your actual run button) unless it’s necessary. I know this sounds really complicated, and I agree that the game is (god knows it’s not for everyone) but like I said if ur really interested with getting tips I’d just literally look it up on KZbin. There’s some seriously dedicated people making videos about it

A huge tip for combat would be to control your facing by holding Left Control. It'll point your character to look in the direction of your cursor, so you can backpedal while attacking. You guys no longer have to joust. Outside of combat it is useful to use left control to look around.

Tip: get in the fighting stance and back away to push so you don't get bit. If you walk into them and push, that's how you get grabbed.

You can round up zombies and then lead them to a nearby forest or set of building and lose sight of them. Simply walking will outpace the zombies slightly and will let you walk around them to get them in a tight ball so you don't leave too many stragglers when you're ready to lose them. Just make sure you have an open enough area to do the rounding up.

Just some advice: Spacing is very important when fighting, you want to be as far away from the zombie as possible and still be able hit them. Running into the Zombie and shoving doesn't give you more pushing power as far as i know and it's a surefire way to get bitten( being attacked from the back result in a bigger chance to be bitten)

Sprinting with a spear in hand increases the damage to be effectively 1-shot, though I'm not sure If that also applies to unhanded.

Yes, one must constantly live on the edge to make progress and gather essential goods. But some of the risks Vinny takes STILL drives me nuts from time to time. But, am enjoying the gameplay a lot. I know the zombies somehow can detect you by smell somehow to the point that cleanliness helps stealth but does that change later as time passes and more zombies deteriorate?
