They can genuinely be said to have done the very best they could - far more than most would be able to, let alone willing, under the same circumstances. MDickie doesn't appear to have improved or learned anything; if it weren't for the change to fixed camera 2D I'd be fairly well convinced he was using the same engine from The You Testament (TBH I'm still suspicious). And yet, if he has the tools to make a game and get it to the ap store, he _must_ therefore have the tools to better learn the craft he is trying to undertake. If you actually respect the man, don't act as if his passion alone is enough to place him above criticism. If it weren't for the fact that his games share so many distinct idiosyncrasies MDickie's work wouldn't exactly stand out from any of the other mobile games in this collection. 2) If you're going to give MDickie a pass, you have to give the same pass to most of the other mobile devs, unless you can confirm that they aren't doing the best that they can working under shitty circumstances. MDickie doesn't have the Chinese Government breathing down his neck, for one thing. TL;DR Don't compare MDickie to Nabwana Godfrey unless MDickie is making his games in a third world country on a 15-year-old computer.

His library is actually quite varied if you go outside of the more memetic wrestling games. He uses limited engine/toolsets because he's familiar enough with it, it's not taxing on hardware, and as such the aforementioned variety is possible. If anything, the unity asset swappers and bootleggers are better off in china than the farming classes or factory workers. Again, it seems more like you just don't know much about him or how the bootleg app stuff works.

That's all they ever are. They're not new anything, and most of their appeal comes from the fact that Mat is a fucking lunatic. He also doesn't bother creating his own characters for the majority of his games, what little OCs there are get flooded out by blatant knockoffs and the assets on his mobile games are just stolen images he cropped. Coca Cola didn't give him the rights to put their drink in his game, for example.

Oh shit, I saw 'Pocket Master' or 'Elf World' or whatever the hell it's called now (it got pulled from the Play Store more times than I can remember) in the highlight reel. The one with the charmander lady called Char. lol I played that at one point...got uh horribly addicted to it too. Started playing it because it was such a weird concept (the bad translation was also rather funny). Good for me that I got away from it before I spent much money though. Basically it's a game where you put together a team that marches against another team of Pokemon...and the Pokemon are all ladies that are very very clearly based on Pokemon. They actually toned it down a bit in later versions and changed the names/designs slightly. I wish I had the apks for them still, it would be interesting to compare the older and newer versions. But yeah, don't play these folks, even out of curiosity. That's what they're designed to do, suck you in then get you to stay long enough that you convince yourself you want to spend money on gatcha pulls or something.
