I mean, that's the term used by the Metroid community across the entire series. If you watch basically any speedrunner or rando players that's how they'll refer to them, because the reason you take damage without Varia in those rooms is the high heat.

I wouldn't say Vin is bad at games per se, it's more a case of sometimes he'll blind things or make questionable decisions. In terms of platforming, aiming, puzzle-solving and other skills that games require I'd be comfortable saying Vin is slightly above average in most genres he plays - while also entertaining a sizable audience. That being said the most enjoyable part for me is how much fun he's having.

Oh hell yeah, Map Rando kicks ass. It can be a bit of a pain to manage at first, depending on how well you know the rooms and how good your own intuition is, but seeing everything jumbled together like this goes a really long way in spicing the game up.

What are those first few rooms? not even just how he gets two powerful abilities, but he has to like, go bottom right for a E tank so he can tank damage for the bottom left room for the speed booster so he can go to the top right room for the screw attack so he can go to the top left room and actually progress. I've never played fully through Super Metroid or watched the entirety of a playthrough, so having these on in the background and just peeking occasionally I'm often impressed by Vin's skills in this. Don't worry Vinny, you're good at some games lol. It'd probably take me countless playthroughs to be even as good as you at Super Metroid, given how I've done in my ~10 hours of playing in the past.

Like you kinda just play a bit of everything instead of playing one game at a time or a whole series? Just curious. You did GREAT in Super Metroid being randomized. I recommend the combined Super Metroid / Zelda 3 randomizer, it's pretty fun as you have to go back and forth between the games to progress exploration, and it's not that hard.

The link for the randomizer is in the description, it has a bunch of customizable parameters for generating a game, including the ability to use a specific seed to allow others to play the exact same setup. It seems to randomize with logic, meaning it will never generate a game that's impossible to complete, however the page does mention that you need to be smart about which map tiles you're able to enter/traverse at any given time because it is still possible for you to fail certain puzzles (ex: collapsing blocks) and not have the equipment to get out of it. It recommends saving frequently to avoid loss of progress
