"You could probably spend your whole life playing ROM hacks". Something tells me Vinny's never heard of Raocow.
@Nedoxu9 жыл бұрын
TB8S why, what is it?
@Popecornclock9 жыл бұрын
Nedoxu Raocow is a KZbinr with a generous cult following due to his wacky accent, non-sequitur style of commentary, and the fact that the majority of the games he plays are Mario hacks. His fans love him so much they've actually created multiple games based off his own characters and situations/levels based off his inside jokes.

That level with the Mario Land music was an actual remake of Mario Land's first level. Even including the enemies' behavior.

***** What are you talking about? This hack was made in 2002/2003, when SMW hacking was still in its infancy, so what other great ROM hacks could it have stolen from? Are you talking about the custom graphics and music, because those weren't added until a remake of the game was made in ~2008 AND most custom graphics/music used in these ROM hacks are made available to everyone by their creators/rippers. As far as I'm aware, none of the level design was stolen from other ROM hacks.
@CrazyQuark9 жыл бұрын
***** So, from which other great ROM Hacks I have stolen? I'd love to know, because after I did the hack I hit my head pretty hard so I probably forgot but I'd like to check it out. Maybe it helps me remember my life before the head-hit. In any case, sorry man. Never intended to piss anyone of with this work, but wait... maybe I did? After all I can't remember. (Seems unlikely though... I know me pretty good.) :p
@CrazyQuark9 жыл бұрын
FPI here - I apologize for the music issues here. Sadly when this hack was made music hacking was brand new and, well, buggy. At the time no one realised it because at the emulator of choice, ZSNES, these issues wouldn't occur because ZSNES isn't exactly accurate so you could get away with a lot of crappy code. A bug fix is in the works but all I can tell is that it will still take some time for it to get released. In it's current state this hack will crash on the SNES and accurate emulators.

@DarkBowser649 жыл бұрын
CrazyQuark I'm glad it's on its way, even if it might take a while! I really like your hack so far, but I can't get past most of the levels I have so far without using save states and hoping I don't run into a music crash (I can't get past Cave Exploration at all). It's a shame, because I prefer to play anything SNES on my Wii through Homebrew Channel and SNES9xGX.

4:03 yes its so true after this hack I spend the last 4 years with playing SMW-Hacks
@1UPdudes9 жыл бұрын
As a guy who hacks SMW and is an user on SMWC (Super Mario World Central) it has only been in recent years we are seeing custom power-ups like Vinny is saying. I do agree that SMB3 was way better in the power-up department. The only real thing we see are edited existing power-ups or some imported from the old games. The only real limit is learning the code. Anything the SNES could do CAN* be done in SMW, it just takes a lot of work. :')
@fullchomp9 жыл бұрын
custom powerups... ALL THE DREAMS ;(
@1UPdudes9 жыл бұрын
Heck. Only thing remotely "custom" I've done with power-ups is finding the Goomba Shoe power-up sprite and making it into a plant pot. 10/10 for originality...

Look, just gonna say, I did beat this romhack in its entirety. And it IS WORTH IT. It's really great. It's a bit harder, sure. But it's SO GOOD. I've played a lot of SMW romhacks, but this is the ONLY ONE I've beaten. Well, that and SMW Yeah! But it really impressed me. If you want to try one, try this. The music isn't great in all levels, sure. But trust me, the level design will speak for itself.

I've played this hack some time ago, and to be honest, it's legit good. I actually found it better than some of the official SNES/Mega Drive platformers.

Well, if all goes according to how I want to do my custom SMBX level, I'll get a new powerup/ability for Mario in and style the level around it. But I don't know how feasible that'll be for someone of my low skill level :/
