but you have to understand the gravity of the situation. everything is depending on this one performance. if she doesn't do it, phantom will kill everyone and haunt the whole opera, murdering everyone for years to come. also, he will continue haunting, kidnapping and abusing christine until her death. so you have to get why raoul is asking her to do this. he doesn't want her to get haunted and abused by phantom for the rest of her life - he wants her to be happy, and to prevent dozens of deaths from happening.

It is very different in the movie as this is from the live show, in the movie it is just Raoul and Christine in the 2004 movie adaptation

This song is from the Stage Musical, which is different from the movie (So the places in which a scene is placed is different). (I haven't seen the Movie and the Musical for a while, so I hope this is accurate) For this part: In the Musical, the song takes place after Masquerade and after Raoul and Madame Giry talk. But it is before the Graveyard Scene. Except in the Movie, the scene takes place (theoretically because part of it is not actually in the movie) after the Graveyard Scene since "We have all been blind" and "Twisted Every Way" was also sung (Not sure if that's the name of the songs) This might be worth noting (idk) but the Note from the Phantom that says something like "No doubt she'll do her best, her voice is good...." that part in the movie is during Masquerade (which in the Stage Musical it is not, it is in the notes) I hope this made sense and helped :)

Like “I want an ending where she ends up with Phantom.” *I* would love an ending where she walks out of the lair herself and finds a new life away from these (mostly) toxic people, whose endless bickering ultimately leads to (if you count LND as canon) her very untimely demise. I ain’t no misandrist-heaven knows there’s a good man out there for her someplace-but it isn’t EITHER of these two.

Raoul is still better. He deeply cares for Christine but Erik threatens them both. She is the only one who stops Erik, yet she's too indecisive to choose. If Raoul doesn't care for her, why would he come down to rescue her then? This is all for the greater good of both the young couple and the others, not just for Raoul himself.
