Watching this sitting next to my Hawk singed gloves and fight worn shorts. His son John fought at Nationals and ended up being a real good guy which led to meeting Julian Jr and Sr. All super nice guys as Senior was laughing when I told him I was at his fights as a kid when he fought against the G Man and Taylor "You must be bad luck, I got killed in both fights". Then when I explained it to him it wasnt my fault, it was walking through the mouth of a giant Lions Head into the MGM casino sport venue, which Asians consider very very unlucky. Laughed harder and said "but you aint Asian and neither am I" but signed me a pair of gloves and shorts so i was happy

@@acegoldengloves1133 thanks. I grew up in New York but my father lived in Vegas and worked at Caesars Las Vegas, so I spent May to October there. He was a lousy father and degenerate gambler but the one good thing is from the age of 4 or 5 my summers were 24/7 boxing and all the big fights.

@@moment2momentphotographyvi236 the real old timers, I'm talking like Kenny Norton, Vito Antuofermo, Ernie Shavers, LaMotta, Cooney, etc are always great because they never saw the dough guys from the 90s onward did. In fact outside of Foreman their stories are damn tragic. Poor Smokin Joe ended up penniless living above his beaten down gym in a tiny apartment. Philly couldnt even give him the respect of saving the gym which is now an Indian furniture store. No statue till he died either, just "Rocky Balboa". Before my time but dad worked with Liston and the great Joe Louis at Caesars. Both were so broke they needed to stand and shake hands with casino patrons. How depressing is that. The GOAT Joe Louis having to dance to pay the tax man My father said they were both great. Cooney did it to and was also a real nice guy, but I can never shake a broken down Frazier and Louis dying without the respect they deserved. Poor Sonny got whacked apparently. All tragic. Still love the sport, like you guys as well. One of the purest and last true expressions of heroic masculinity and a man standing on his own alone against the world. Beautiful sport as a fighter, coach and fan. The best

No doubt Julian never saw most of the money he made along with the entire King camp, even Iron Mike never saw most of the money he made King. It's a bit better now but we really need to show a lot more respect and support for fighters because of what they do for a living. There's no such thing as a coward in a boxing ring and we should remember that the vast majority don't get the chance to fight at the top, only those that were born with extreme talent and fortitude so much as get to fight for a title let alone be remembered among the greats like Julian Jackson.

Julian Jackson was the definition of dynamite in both hands. Absolute scary power in both hands. Jackson hit so hard it took some of his opponents a few seconds to register that they had been knocked out. Many got hit and stood there for a second like their brain was thinking "WTF WAS THAT?!" before their body slumped to the canvas. Witness what he did to Terry Norris. He knocked Norris out with one crisp right hand out of the blue and Norris was so far gone that he seemed to forget to fall down. As a result Norris got hit two more times for his troubles before he landed on his face. I was amazed Norris got up within a week of those shots. Then there were the guys that just melted when Jackson hit them and laid on the canvas like a dead fish such as Herol Graham. Jackson was on the verge of losing that fight due to a doctor's stoppage. Then one clean right cross and Graham went down like the proverbial puppet when it's strings are cut. The definition of a one hitter quitter. One of the scariest knockouts I've ever seen. Next to knockout in the dictionary it should say, "See Jackson v. Graham". His whole career can be summed up in one sentence: if the opponent didn't knock Jackson out, Jackson would knock them out. Someone should do a mash up of Jackson knockouts set to "God will cut you down" by Johnny Cash.

awesome video!! never heard of this fighter but man his commitment to every single punch is just beautiful. Yeah some people have natural power, but the thing that people forget too is how much the boxer is committing to the punch. Every time you throw power, it can move you off balance, off base, and missing means you might get countered big, so there are a ton of boxers who have power but just dont commit to their punches, well at least not all of them like Jackson seems to do. Every hard right hand, he steps into it. Every hard punch, you can see he is putting in full and utter commitment. Thats belief right there. That was his real power.

Me and my pop used to love watching Julian fight. What a tremendous counter puncher. It's like a trip hammer. Either side, right or left, Jackson was extremely dangerous. We could never figure out where he got that skill from. It's Natural, God given ability. This was the era when Boxing was at it's very peak. Julian Jackson was probably for us, being from Philly, the most exciting fighter we ever saw. The way he worked the body was a work of art. We could always expect the assault to the body and then the combo's to the head. Julian would hit that temple and it was lights out. What a great fighter he was. Yeah Benn is a coward juicer who fake feinted after the fight to take an 🚑 to the hospital and likely avoided a drug test. Now his son gets caught with juice...Even playing field and without Julian likely starting a small injury on GMans brain and the ditching of Steward as his trainer Benn stood ZERO chance. All of the cards fell into place for him and he was tough but a cheat and coward.

Absolutely a great sportsman and extremely humble imo wasn't a big shit talker or anything just let his fist do the talking. You can see he had difficulty even calling guys out just cause it wasn't in his nature to do so but no one wanted that smoke tho! Without a doubt a guy that if your in the ring with you can't ever get comfortable with as it only took one shot by Julian for you to be waking up on the canvas. Both Mike McCallum and Gerald McClellan knew that and didn't let up one bit till the fight was stopped.

Julian Jackson... I honestly think he's probably the hardest (pound for pound) hitter/puncher in boxings recent history ie, televised, history! I used to read about his fights in boxing news, boxing monthly, the ring magazine, etc. Then the Internet arrived & KZbin etc. I started to see what I was reading about & seeing him in action is truly awe inspiring! @@tamarbak9407 Listen this is childish and I'm gonna just be completely honest with you. I don't typically comment on videos. This is probably my tenth comment on a youtube video in over 10 years. I happen to see this video had just popped up (I don't typically). I thought if I commented early the creator would have a better chance of seeing it. All I was trying to do was show support to a creator I am a huge fan of. Likes mean nothing to me....if I were trying to get likes I probably would have "tried" to say something catchy. SO, I know exactly what i'm doing. BUT I really have NO clue what your are doing my friend.

Excellent work Joe. I can almost feel Jackson's punches from here. Love the slow-mo repeats. You get to study the destruction much better! Julian should feel no shame in losing to the almost super human Gerald McClellan. Julian Jackson was an exceptional fighter and champion and truly an all time GREAT!

He was on the decline prior to the first G man fights although winning both matches before that fight but he was never the same due to issues with both his eyes he was suffering progressive blindness.

Oh man this was great brought back so many memories my pops took me as a kid to see him train around Stt even saw as guest referee for a wrestling match with Hulk Hogan and Jimmy the fly he was a really cool person. Another great vid

You won't see a bunch of KO's like this in the videos of any other fighter, JJ was the only fighter who consistently starched guys in this way.

It's weird hat I had never heard of him because back then, I loved boxing. I'm so glad for these recent videos of him, becuase I love this fighter!
