Hey, I'm the guy that made the Isaac DS homebrew. I sure wasn't expecting to see it here! I worked on the game in 2013, when I was 17. I used a program called DS Game Maker, which was unfortunately very flawed. It had a plethora of issues and limitations, including one where using the room change function would cause a memory leak that would eventually hard-lock the game. I ended up making my own script to swap rooms instead of using built-in functions. What you saw is basically all there was. I spent a lot of time figuring out random level generation, and if you restart the game, you get a different layout, with random rooms. The only enemies are the Fly, Horf, and Gaper, which can split into it's two variants when killed. I know I developed it a little more after this, adding 2 or 3 items, key, heart, and bomb pickups, and I made a sprite sheet for Monstro, but I got tired of working around the buggy program, and gave up. Unfortunately I've lost the updated build, and I don't have a copy of DS Game Maker to build it again (I think the current code won't build anyway). In 2014/2015, I started working on it again, from the ground up using pure c, using nfLib for graphics. I went heavy into the engine, focusing on better movement including acceleration/deceleration when you move. I was able to up the sprite limit to 1024, which would have been plenty. I redid the sprites and music, using the Binding of Isaac Rebirth for inspiration this time instead. I made tears better, giving them shadows, and having them drop to the ground over time like the real game. Unfortunately, around this time The Binding of Isaac Rebirth was officially announced for the 3DS, and it basically killed all motivation I had to work on my DS version. I never even got to add room generation or enemies to the new version. I did a couple of other DS homebrew projects, including trying to recreate Super Hexagon, but this was the only one I posted online, and was by far the most complete. Crazy to see it's been archived on a homebrew website, and ended up here! Thanks for checking it out.

@@shirleymaemattthews4862 Touhou games are pretty niche, but the fandom is INSANELY dedicated. Fan remixes like Night of Nights are far more recognizable than the original songs. Literal mountains of fanart is drawn every day. Touhou fan conventions in Japan gain huge crowds. Some fans even make their own Touhou games that gain a big following in their own right. It's the complete polar opposite of say, Family Guy. The show's extremely popular, but no one ever makes epic "Bag of Weed" remixes, no one goes to Family Guy conventions to show off their Brian Griffin doujinshis, and no one draws their own Petersonas.

@@anactualseagull5980 The POWDER Vinny played was made by one guy named Jeff Lait. He has a website with the game available in versions for PC as well as many other systems (PSP, DS, etc.), and he has made a bunch of other roguelikes for the 7-Day Roguelike Contest where developers are challenged to make roguelikes in a week. POWDER is his most developed game, one of his first, and was not made for the contests. The goal is to descend to Level 25, defeat the demon at the end, and return to Level 1, but it's a pretty difficult game where a lot of random, weird things can happen.

@Katsi4049 ай бұрын
@@goldchris1111 Yeah, in addition to the classic Cursed and Holy items mechanic, the game's class system revolves around pleasing gods that are always observing how you play. For example if you wear really loud armor and tromp around, you'll piss off the Rogue god who wants you to be sneaky. They can strike you with poison and other nastiness and ruin your run if you ignore them for too long.

Bateman: The early games were a little to arcadey for me, but when New Super Mario Bros released in '06, I think it really came into its own. The whole game has a consistently simplistic yet outstanding quality from start to finish. The game also carries notable usage of DS Download Play, a stable feature of the DS. this combination of feature-packing and innovation really gives the game a big boost. It's been compared to the original Super Mario Bros, but I think it has a far more accessible level set, with streamlined design so well made. Most players won't even appreciate the intricate care put into them But they should, 'cause its not just a fun and entertaining game, it's also a personal statement about the company itself!
