Holy crap I didn't think AB See elevators were still in operation. The NEWEST ones from that company were from 1938. Also I'm interested in why that controller acts up going in the up direction? Dead spots in the control windings?

I've driven manual elevators. I speculate that the control crank might have originally been on another elevator that had self-leveling. Those last down crank positions shown was to apply self-leveling as the cab approaches the desired floor.

I also have yet to do that. In fact, I have yet to even find an automatic one with a scissor gate on my own (the only elevator with such a gate that I've ridden is the one at Rush Rhees Library, and obviously that one was found long before I got to it).

I know only one elevator in Arkansas that has a manually controlled elevator like that but it's an Otis. I want to try operating one.
