Yes, it would have had a cloth internal bag, that you shook out to empty it. I dont think these used any other form of paper bags, it was simply a shake out bag, so pretty poor filtration, but this was the mid 70s, and many vacuums still used shake out bags, including Kirbys of that era. The date code does indeed translate to week 47 of 1975 you are right with that. I see they sent no hose, wand or floor tool, thats a pity, but I suspect this would have used a flip over floorhead that you simply flipped to one side for carpet use and the other side had bristles for use on hard floors. Not sure why it has skids on the underside seeing as it has wheels, its rather odd that. As you said, to be fair, it is old, so age has left it a bit "used and scarred", but I'm sure you'll find the parts you need for it and fashion a Numatic Hepaflo bag to fit inside, its amazing just how many old vacuums can be "hepaflo'd" as Sam Watson has demonstrated so often!

Hi Steve Yes you could get plain open top paper bags for these cleaners with a plastic ring that sat over the top to seal it from the cloth. My old 303 had one.
