Vintage 34mm Field Watch find / WEST END WATCH Co!

This little Vintage 34mm field watch has surpassed my expectations.
Did you know about the West End Watch Company? They're still going after 130 years, still independent and still Swiss!
The Sowar Prima is a model they offer currently and also had in the distant past.

Sowar is anglicized form of Hindi and Farsi Savar, means cavalry. Originally made for British Indian army, named after the cavalry unit. At one time West Ends had a big market base in India and mid east. Now new ones are not available in India but can be found in the middke east.

The word "Sowar" came from Hindi/Arabic "Sowari" which means the horse rider in the war, who fights war on a horse with sword. We indian subcontinent people call them "Swoar" and it's a very prestigious rank and name in both indian and arabic culture.

West End Watches has a vast history and heritage in India from pre world war 2 era to late 1960s. India issued for the military para military forces and civil services officers. It was a pride to have one on the wrist back in the time. People stares at the hands and immediately knows that the man or woman have a class.
