I remember when I was 6 years old on Christmas this was 1976, the end of the GI Joe line in the US, and my very first Joe was a Black "Brother man" Muscle body Adventurer on a blister card, with the shorts and jthe uniform with huting rifle. My moms bought for me at a TG&Y store that no longer exists! The price was still on the card: Clearanced $1.98! I still have that figure, but now reflocked, new hands and rejointed. yeah....I played with him until his hands turned to dust!

Forgot to add that if you need your figures restrung (1964 or Muscle Body) or your Talking Mechanism repaired, contact Scott Wilde at majwildeman@hotmail.com. I've known Scott since the mid-90's and he's been our GO TO guy for all figure repairs. For head reflocking, you can't go wrong with Flock Concepts at flockconcepts@live.com. Ray does all our Elite Brigade head flocking (fuzzy heads as we call them) and he does all our vintage head reflocking.

My uncle had a collection of GI joes and he kept them at a cabin we owned upstate. A month before I planned to go to the cabin and get them My grandfather sold the cabin. I’m still pissed about it

I have some Canadian figures and they do not seem to suffer from the crumbling like the American figures do.

It's always disconcerting to hear "African American" being applied to figures made in Europe for the European markets, or in the case of the Classic Collection when applied to French Foreign Legion, Australian ODF, Belgian Para Commando, etc. They're usually called Afro-European or Black Europeans of African Ancestry. I think most prefer the former, as the latter is quite a mouthful. Thank you, Mr. Allgood for sharing your knowledge with us, especially concerning the "crayon" scent indicating deteriorating plastic. I'd really like to hear your thoughts on the yellow body Japanese Imperial Soldier. I have seen caucasian bodies that have been partially sunbleached to a yellowish tinge, but usually it's just the parts exposed to the elements for long periods, not the entire figure. In closing, thank you Mr. Brown for keeping us in the loop, very few companies take the time to reach out to their customers in such a way. Cheers!
