Sharon, I just love this video. I sewed so many Betsey Johnson patterns back in the '70s. Just the sight of the Butterick font from that era makes my heart go pitter-pat. I still have quite a few of them and even one of the dresses I made back when the pattern first came out! Butterick 6798. My all-time favorite outfit was from Butterick 6535. I made the mini skirt and long sleeved shirt in a poppy red and cream calico print. How I could have ever let that go I will never know. Thanks so much for making this video. I think I'll go pull out my short stack of patterns and have a little nostalgia-fest.

Libby - A kindred spirit! I feel the same way about the patterns 😍 I can’t believe you still have the dress from Butterick 6798! I love 6535 - wish I had it. Have fun going through your patterns - and thanks for stopping by and letting me know you enjoyed the video!

Those line drawings - I'd love to learn to draw them! So much cuteness. Love it. Also lots of good maxi options . . . 😉

Today in Jen's Sewing Room Yes! Those live drawings after great! I found it interesting that as the years went on, the illustration went from the one drawing, to an individual drawing with pattern pieces for each item included with the pattern.

Karen S Nybeck You’re welcome! Yes, you can see previous decades recycled in fashion, not exactly of course, but so many similarities!

I have butterick 6529. I found it at an antique shop for $1. It’s definitely one of my favorites from my collection!

That is an awesome find! Do you think you will ever sew it? Or perhaps you have already sewn it?

Butterick 4681 is my favorite. I made the red dress as shown on the pattern envelope in the '70s complete with appliques and embroidery. My sister took it to Europe and lost it. 😪

Oh that must have been a gorgeous red dress! And sisters - love 'em but you must have been pretty upset at the time!

@@SharonSews It was beautiful. A woman tried to buy it off of me when I was wearing it! I forgave my sister but obviously never forgot. 🙂

G A Rodgers Thanks! I have been such a fan of her designs for so long, and I am delighted that a few of these can be sewn for the current season. Of course they will have to resize the patterns… Most of these are pretty small.

Oh my gosh, I loved them!! Where can I find them to buy?

Hi Elaine, The vintage Betsey Johnson patterns sometimes come up for sale on Etsy or eBay. Otherwise check your local thrift stores or estate sales. Or ask anyone you know that sews if they have any available they want to gift to you 😀 I have purchased these over the last 20 years from eBay and Etsy.

Question, if I may, how do you file them and store the many patterns? The hats and I bags, I like making hose, they are fun.
