I'm strictly an MTG player and collector but I'll never pass up an opportunity to learn something about markets and history. You're channel has aIways been interesting in the very least.

love these deep dives on a single/ niche type of collectible! interesting to draw parallels between the ones i know about, or even markets for other asset classes.

Back in the 90's my dad had a party store & would get tons of free advertising from Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Budweiser, Marlboro our customers would ask us to sell some of our items. My dad made a ton of money of them I remember someone paid him $100 for a Bud blimp so he can add it to his man cave lol, I even sold some items as well, but never told my dad about since we had so many lol, Those were the good old days as my dad would say =) Kind a wish I held on to some because those items were made out of glass & metal seeing the new advertising items today there all made out of cheap plastic that won't last a year to hold up.

I'm involved in pokemon and I don't mind these videos as they show trends in past collectibles and we can learn from history and use it for future speculation.

Love all the videos .Gives a true antique collector/investor view of the modern run to collectables and alternative investments . Wisdom that should not be easily dismissed ...We need the glasses back tho . 😎

What a fantastic video. I'm a collector of petroliana here in the UK, but over the past few years managed to collect 5 enamel buttons. I've just bought 2 NOS off eBay at a ridiculously cheap price, so bargains are still out there to be had! I'm going to take a look at your other video, and yea, i watched until the end :)

( This is Tom, not Sandra. ) What a very informative video, sir!! Thank you for breaking down the do's and don't's of collective COKE advertising pieces. I love that COKE button sign you showed from your collection. Great looking MINT piece. I wish l had extra $$$$ to buy a COKE button sign like that. COKE had better advertising than PEPSI, l believe. (IMO) Thank you again for a great COKE collectibles video, sir. Take care.

Hey Shawn, I also watched till the end. It’s a shame these more niche categories don’t pull the same amount of viewers as your video game uploads as they’re just as informative. Never know when you’re going to slip in a bit of hidden wisdom. Also a good reason to keep watching till the end 😉

Hey Sean , One day when you have time can you do a video about “selling too early” regarding investments , and how to analyse a collectible/antique for instance and project when your selling window is ? All the best Thankyou 😃👍🏽 , great video too ⭐️

'When I have time?' LOL. I'm still 70+ videos behind on this channel. A video like that was in the works awhile back, but I would have to go and see what happened to it.

Must be something to it as Warren Buffet is now 90 years old. His diet is Coca-Cola and McDonald's.

Great stuff as always Shawn! I have a question about replacing old fluorescent light fixtures with LED lights in vintage advertisement pieces. I have done this on an old Playstation kiosk and on a World of Nintendo display cabinet. At the time, I favored a noise free better light over keeping it original. Do you think this hurt the value and if so, how badly?
@ReservedInvestments4 жыл бұрын
Hard to say, but over the long term originality is usually coveted. That said, there are vintage neon signs that get refurbished all the time and it doesn’t hurt their overall value. Time will tell.

Not sure if it was intentional, but nice "Coca Cola" red shirt you got on Shawn! p.s. I'm still having a hard time getting used to seeing you without glasses... please put them back on :)

Curious about where you stand politically? I normally wouldn't ask someone but since you said we could comment about it I figured why not, would be interesting to learn more about you :) Also I watch all of your videos till the end, some of them I even rewatch. Allot of the stuff you talk about are collecting categories I'm not specifically interested in but just hearing the history of these different markets and the knowledge you have of them is enough to keep me coming back and I feel like I learn something new each video :) keep up the great work!

If you read the forward in Petretti’s bible he didn’t feel the Internet (auction sites) was a greatest place to do commerce. Notice that was the last edition he printed and is now ironically selling his collection on eBay. I bid on a couple of items. I feel eBay is the better gauge to see where the market is.
