I remember this tool box in my dad's garage when I was little over 50 years ago, now it sits in my garage. Great to see you're restoration.

I bought the same tool box today at the swap meet for $10. It is in better shape but, it's missing the top tray and it was full of old tools and sockets. By the way, good job.

Excellent work!!! Great restoration. Thank you for posting! I have two of these boxes. One I got 45 years ago and the other I inherited from my Dad. I'll be doing a resto on both. Thanks again for sharing.

Coincidentally I was just out in my shed, looking for something and came across two tool boxes in a cabinet. One of them is exactly like the one featured in this video go figure. They belonged to my wife’s grandfather, and were given to me when he passed away. Great video your tool box looks awesome and you’ll have a treasure for a lifetime.

Nice job! I restored this same model, but the pop rivets on the latches started to pull loose from the weight when I put tools in it. I ended up using bolts and nuts with loctite to solve the problem. It's my house tool box now.

Nice restoration. My dad passed away 1 year ago today and he had the same toolbox which now I have and would like to restore. What chemicals did you use to clean the hardware and on the box itself and the paint used?
@christophercain3953 Жыл бұрын
Excellent job!!! I have some questions. What did you soak the latches in to remove the rust? What size and length rivets did you use? I want the rivets to be flush inside of the box.
@CoronaConstruction Жыл бұрын
Soaked them in vinegar. I'll check the size of the rivets in a little bit.

Found an old intact Kennedy tool box the likes of which I was given when I worked for the Hollywood wastewater plant in Florida as a mechanic. Extremely decent condition with a little rust but with some odds and ends tools for $2.

I’m in the process of restoring and customizing some as well. Super nice work, I know it’s a long process. I Did two as gifts and now looking to possible sell online with a customizable option. Do you keep for yourself, get hired to restore, or do you restore and resell?

I mostly restore to practice and keep the items myself. I usually keep them til i find someone who needs it, then i can gift it, and they can see the work put into it

@@limzoman5157 he opens the comment with “nice job” and you still find a way to take offense. Suggesting proper safety for children and a friendly suggestion to prevent overspray is apparently offensive in 2024. Why don’t you get offended by something that matters rather than being a martyr for the sake of wasting your own time? Good luck.
