This will be great to watch. Pretty sure that’s an old parilla SL that was made by DAP. That Rotax came out in about 90/91 from memory. The Yamahas were around since the early 80s. They still used rotary’s right through until 98 in the highest divisions. You can’t beat the sound of a rotary turning 20,000 rpm! Looking forward to watching the rest of this!

The old man had to cut that front chassis bar out and replace sections a couple of times in the pre-nosecone days. Big fields in JNH at Oakleigh back in the day... say no more 😆 I came back to racing 20-odd years later and was shocked what you could get away with (and that was before the rear bumpers came in!)

@@PowerRepublic no noticeable change. Guess it was in place of seat weights. I’m 122kg on a 80cc shifter. I’m the one who needs to loose the weight.

1993/4 Parrilla SL (not a Greyhound) made by DAP, hence why it's green not red (fun fact the green colour was not originally for Senna, but for our own John Pizzaro (RIP), but Senna claimed the kart as it was his national colour too back in the 70's). The gold floor tray came out in 1993 . Standard 15/17mm step stubs. The original DAP Nassau panels were only in Red and were made of Plastic, not fiberglass, although we did have exact copies made in fiberglass, but that one is the wrong shape. The genuine steering wheels were red, followed by red/yellow and were stamped DAP in the centre. Steering column is post 92 as well, as before that they only had a centre mount for the tie rod ends, not Ackerman steering. Front wheels are not correct as they have the wrong offset to them. Master cylinder is definetly wrong, and the mount has been modified too. Calipers and rotor are correct for an SL, which were different to the Greyhound. Rear axle is correct for the period, and they were a very soft axle. Rear wheel hubs are Edwards not DAP as the originals were a different offset and not Ally. Engine would be a 90's Rotax. That was a fantastic Yamaha J or Clubman chassis, too soft for that engine and lacking the 3rd bearing. I'm an Old DAP guy, hence why we originally met through RKS back in the day and was the QLD Parrilla dealer for a short time.

Sweet as, thanks for all the feedback on the kart. it is missing some genuine parts but It will still come up pretty ace when she hits the track. stay tuned for the engine vid coming up and see if you can identify it for us.

Hello! Motoplat is also installed on my kart. This ignition interferes with the electronics. For example, on the AEM AFR and the speed sensor on the shaft. Is there interference? How can you fight them?

Is it ok to drive with an exhaust with dents on it for hobby driving?
@rodgerbell810
@rodgerbell810 10 ай бұрын
Hi, a few small dents shouldn’t significantly affect performance but if the muffler has HUGE dents then it might be time to replace it. Perhaps find someone who may have a used muffler in reasonable condition. Cheers

Hey Power, I'm 15 and have been looking to graduate from arrive and drive to owner karting for quite some time now, specifically the Briggs Senior class. I've been reading the regulations and technical stuff for the engine - but I can't seem to find any info about the sort of chassis I would need for the kart to be legal. I'm looking to race in MIKA at Mosport in Canada, if you have any advice on where I should go with it, then it would be much appreciated.
