VINTAGE EARLY 60's CAMPBELL SOUP SCOTCH BROTH - ANIMATED CAMPBELL SOUP TWINS

How times have changed. When this commercial was made the preferred name for a person from Scotland would be called Scotch. Today that is considered to be a semi-insult.
The Campbell soup twins are promoting a new soup Scotch broth (I assume it isn't 50% Scotch whiskey) along with a Scottish relative, who is wearing a kilt & playing a bagpipe.

First time I have ever seen a Scotch Broth commercial! Must have been in an episode of "Lassie" or "The Donna Reed Show."

They continued selling it in Canada for a few years after stopping sales in the US. I had a friend in Vancouver who would ship a case every so often, but eventually they discontinued it there too. There is a brand that still makes a similar lamb barley soup in Canada, I think - but there are many good recipes available on line!

Originally seen in 1959; Scotch Broth was discontinued a long time ago, as it was eventually considered "too expensive" to continue making....
