That cropped kimono is spectacular!! I have long arms too and the bell sleeves are essential. Love your channel❤❤ Especially love it when you and your go to garage sales. I'm 71 and have been thrifting for over 50 years. I'm always looking for big bell bottoms, and my favorite designer, Johnny Was. Those embroidered hippie tops rock!! Tell Sheila I said hello! As a person who's spent years collecting vintage from the 1800s through the 30s, some 40s, I am pretty sure that 1930's "slip" actually is a dress. I'd have to look at it some more to see the tags (if any) & construction, but that sort of silky, drapey sliplike dress was the thing for the more daring ladies in the 30's. Tea dress maybe. I know that you know your vintage, but I think your instinct to wear it as a dress is telling you that's what it is. Kimono,gorgeous---I used to go to chinatown in L.A. to this one store that had all these rayon brocade kimono---I have 4 or 5 just for lounging around the house, love 'em! Also loved the jewelry lesson---I know a little from mostly the 20's, I have some mourning pieces (usually jet or onyx), but it's not my main thing, so I really enjoyed you sharing your knowledge!

The kimono jacket is a haori - a kimono-style jacket that is traditionally worn over a kosode. It's shorter in length, falling to the hip or thigh, and does not close, but is worn open by a string that connects the lapels.

My only silk blouse I ruined in one day and when I went home, it was basically hanging off me, like I had been attacked. Caught on my seat belt, then several other things during the day. It was shredded! You can wear anything and you are so gorgeous.

I love the mourning necklace. I worked at a jewellers who specialised in antique jewellery many years ago. I became fascinated with the sentiment and beauty of the mourning jewellery. I was recently gifted with an antique Victorian Sterling Buckle bangle for Mothers Day by my husband and children. It was one of my lifetime dream pieces and I still can't believe that I own one. I will wear and treasure it forever. Xx

Is the short kimono a bed jacket? Back in the 80's when shoe clips were in I had a bunch. I travel for a living and shoes were my down fall until I found shoe clips. Saved some beautiful ones. Oh Selena you are so lucky? You were gifted the hat to your beautiful coat. Wow.

I'm going to have to watch this one again. I had been in town all day shopping and kept fading in and out of sleep while I watched. I had to come in and rest awhile before tackling the giant job of unloading my car. Can't wait to try on some clothing tomorrow. Found some amazingly soft ( 50% poly, 50 % modal) knit "sweat" shirts to keep me warm now that winter is finally here. All my everyday long sleeve tops were shot. I loved everything you modeled for us. That black dress looks like a costume for a Vegas performer and you pull it off beautifully.

So many gorgeous pieces. It’s interesting saying about the morning jewellery. Biscuits came about from funeral notifications. They person would bake these biscuits and would wrap the biscuits with a notice of the funeral of time and place the service being held. It was from there the biscuits we know today came from.

I remember shoe buckles from the 60's. I also had sweater clips that held a sweater in place when you wore it around your shoulders. You put the clip, which was actually two clip parts with a jewelry chain between , on each side of the neckline of the sweater and it kept it from falling off your shoulders. Some clip sets were pearl or rhinestone, gold or silver filigree etc.
