My two favorites casting reels are a Lew's BB1 Pro (not quite as old as yours) and a newer Shimano Curado DC. Two excellent reels and I cast further with the Lew's and the drag is excellent, but the Shimano is less "fussy" and a joy to fish with. Both feel good in the hand. I hold my rods & cast right handed and reel left - casting, spinning and fly - having roots with spinning reels. Saves a lot of juggling of the rod.

Cast control=tension knob, same thing just different names. I just minimize side to side play on everything now a days.

Check the LEW’S history, there once was a LEW’S manufacturer/repair shop in Foley AL. Just now putting the pieces together, because I went to school with a Lew Childre.
