I take a look at the German Turm-Sport alcohol stove.
Weight: 27.3oz or 774g
Size 5 1/4 x 7 1/4 x 3 inches or 13.5 x 18.5 x 3.75 cm.
WOW! I went on Ebay to see if I could find the cover for this stove. I saw two of these stove listed, one for $275 another for $325. I went back and checked my records and I paid $40 about five years ago.

Thanks for posting this video. The manual on the tank is in German and Dutch. It says that you have to keep the cap of the tank loosely screwed on while the stove is in use to allow airflow and to prevent too much pressure in the tank. I have the same stove, with the same part missing... and use it mainly while canoe camping - it's too big for backpacking. Works great, love the clever design and the idea that I'm using a piece of about 65 years old that's still going strong.

Thanks for the translation. II is a cool design. I bet most of the stoves still around are missing the cover piece, anything not tied down will be lost. I'm surprised the pot stands survived. I sure loss is why Primus and Svea chained the control handle to the stove. 😊

Amazing-like how it all fits together and how the alcohol container goes straight up.

That little tool clipped to the base is to tighten the gland nut at the tee junction of the tubes carrying the spirit ... you will notice several little holes drilled in the nut which take the tool to turn it with ...

👍 nice 'old school' gear. Made to last and looking at the materials it is constructed of, repairable. Thanks for sharing .. take care ..

On the instructions it shows the pot holders reversed, i guess they can go both ways. Nice stove!

True, I put them that way so it will accommodate a smaller pot.

I just picked up one of these today at an antique store! It is missing the flame adjustment knob and it is missing the top cover that goes over the burner. It definitely needs a full restoration on it. I'm hoping it was worth what I paid for it. Thank you for a great video!

They are cool stoves. I imagine most of them are missing the cover. Any loose pieces are almost guaranteed to get lost. I'm sure that is why Primus, Optimus and Svea put chains on their control knobs. 🙂

@@planetsideagent for now I have cut some notches in the end of an old brass rifle casing.. that will serve as the control knob until I fashion a proper one

I think the cap of the stove is meant to be loose. Or a vacuum forms inside the tank and holds back the flow of fuel. looking at the really old domestic style gravity feed stoves the tank cap is not airtight when in use.

My friend has the same stove with all original paperwork instructions gas can and the canvas carrying case, he claims he picked it up at a estate sale for 5 bucks about 20 or so years ago, we had it burning just the other day as he brought it along on our motorcycle trip to Sturgis, I looked on ebay and some guy was asking 775 🤣

Great find and price, Your buddy has a rare gem. The last I looked on eBay they were asking around $300 and that's with missing parts.
