@@357magdad I have watched several of the lathe videos. Very interesting. If you want a longer bed, it appears that you can search for "1560 aluminum extrusion" and find in longer lengths. Amazon is 1 source. Price is high however. Might be other sources. Thanks

Well done, the gimlet looks like new. If I want to turn a symmetrical shape, or a specific shape, is to make a full size template out of a piece of thin cardboard. I draw the outline, then cut out with a pair of scissors. I then try the template against the work to see where I need to remove material. This helps me a lot. Dave.

Good idea to pin the shaft through the handle. The stock, secured in your lathe looked and sounded more stably held in place then in earlier uses. Maybe the epoxy holding the mandrel helped in that way as well as kee ping the mandrel in the stock. Your bombay mahogany has become my favorite stain and the bluing was perfect in dark contrast to the handle stain. Handle shaping looks great. Thanks

This project turned out well. For one thing, you have a sharp eye to get such symmetrical results on the lathe with minimal measuring. Also, getting the small pinning hole through a narrow shank took some care. The design of the handle and stain retains the vintage look of the original tool. You're getting alot of use out of the lathe.
