The 1961 Neptune Mighty Mite WC-1 Outboard trolling motor was manufactured by the Muncie Gear Works in Muncie, Indiana founded in 1910. They started building outboard motors in 1930 where they made motors under many brands. The Neptune Mighty Mite was extremely popular. It was a carbon copy of the Evinrude Scout rated at 1.2 horsepower, they were increased to 1.7 after the war. After 1956 all outboard motors were made at Cordele. This example was manufactured in Muncie, which would indicate production prior to 1956. Decal on tank reads "NEPTUNE". Muncie Gear Works was sold in 1969. Mounted by way of C-clamp to a display board that exhibits a propeller, two vintage oil cans and a pull-rope. A near identical display, if not this exact display, is picture in an article on the internet entitled "History of the Muncie Gear Works Corporation Outboard Motors" and comes with the motor. Sold as display only. I copied this from Morphy Auctions, they have an identical one on their website.

Used to work in an old building in downtown Denver on Market St. , it was a designated 'fallout shelter' during the cold war, as it had a huge basement that ran a whole city block long connecting to other building basements along Market Street at one time. Its all been torn down now and i really regret not getting those old 'Fallout Shelter' signs that where at every basement stairway. I sometimes wonder if anyone did get them. I don't know if they would have had any value but I'm thinking they would. That building was fascinating to me with its old freight elevators , basement connections that had been bricked in, the old elevator shaks they where called, that housed the huge electric motors that ran the elevators and 2nd floor walkways that ran across the alley to another building on the next block. Funny how you sparked my memory of this with those Covid 19 Signs.. i think you are right ! We will be long gone but there will be someone like you in search of one of the most surreal periods of our time , as real as it was.

Hey Pete, I’m a licensed plumber and Gas technician. I wouldn’t buy any used boilers or furnaces or anything gas related as far as Heating for the house. Stoves are perfectly fine because everybody sells those. And they are very basic. But when it comes to boilers. You would be liable if someone. Installs that boiler. And something happens. You can easily check the dial indicators with a set of Guage blocks. I'd think people would bring a set of those in often as well. Indicators are mainly about repeatability. Set the zero and see if the block or known go to the same number. If they don't hang up and a good brand name, you shouldn't have any trouble getting money out of them. Interapid(swiss made) are the best in my opinion. Brownw and Sharpe, Mitiyoyo, Starrett are all decent.

I have a spade dated 1942 ( with crows foot) and I'm still using it today. I run a file over its edge and you could shave with it. It's used nearly everyday too.
