Welcome back again all you amazing people out there! How has your week been ? stressfree I hope. Today I was quite surprised with the amount of metal I recovered from this little generator! What a great little piece of equipment to tear down, and I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more of these . Copper , Zinc and some type of aluminium alloy made for a great addition to the stack. A couple of custom coins With the zinc and I'm very happy with the results. So sit back relax enjoy the video but most importantly, have a happy safe weekend and hope to see you all on the next one 👋🏻Oh and be sure to let me know if I should melt down that old organ out the back of the shed👍🏻😁.

For the US Navy, the wrench sizes that always seem to disappear are the 9/16" and 7/16" (14mm and 11mm - approx) - no matter how many a Division stocks in their tool cabinets, somehow they all go missing. So frustrating. I've been out now almost 20 years and it still gives me anxiety thinking about all the struggle just to do some simple preventative maintenance that should only take 20 minutes, but takes 2 hours because you gotta find the damn wrench first, or borrow, beg, and steal from another Division to get.

Thanks again buddy, you’re a champion. Absolutely monster of a tear down this week don’t you think? Definitely fun but time-consuming that’s for sure. disappointing with the amount recovered, but at the end of the day it was free, so I can’t complain👍🏻😁. Have a great weekend my friend.

@bigstackD Yessir, no worries. Metal melted is money made; You win some you lose some. I worked 10 hours on Saturday, working 8 hours on sunday. The enjoyment will start once I get home and crack a cold one, lol. Gonna finish watching the organ melt as well. So far, it has been fascinating to see how complex the internals are. A lot of wiring almost has to be made by machine for time efficiency. Could take days by hand. Don't know, though, only have wired very small and simple projects. Anyway, thanks again for the awesome videos, will be back for sure👍

I have a different method for re-lining the refractory cement. I'll wet the wool a bit to let the first thin layer soak into the wool a bit, then I get it together like you, but I don't worry about it being totally dry. I let the first thin layer be touch dry then I mix another batch of cement and make it like a concrete mortar consistency so it'll stick to the first layer on the walls instead of runny. Then I'll plaster about 1/8-3/16 layer...pardon... 2-3mm all over the furnace, and a bit thicker on the bottom and press the firebrick into the bottom a bit to give it a little slot. When it's dry enough for the cement not to stick to itself close the lid and press down. Open and fill any gaps then press again. Tidy up the rim. (for extra flair I had some of that glass bead stuff they use to make road lines reflective and I powdered the inside with some of that to make a glaze. Totally unnecessary, but kind of a cool effect) Let that air dry for a day or so, and then fire up the furnace on low for 30 sec or until steam comes out (Go too fast and it cracks. Patch when necessary) let it cool and repeat another 30 sec. Once the inside is dry increase the time interval to 45sec then cycle at 60 and so on till all the steam cooks off. Then run it low for ~10min and let it cool completely. Patch any cracks again and then run it full blast like you're trying to melt iron (try a CLEAN copper run if you're feeling frisky. No dirty copper, brass, aluminum, iron, and especially not zinc.) It's a bit much, probably overkill, but it's pretty much armor by the end. It'll crack and chip over time, but you can just plaster it over and the small patches cook in with the next melt (NO Zinc!!).
