Chuck, does it bother you as a hairdresser when clients spend their entire appointment on their phones? Just curious.

Honestly, not really. As long as they can keep their head where I place it, I don't mind if a client talks to me the whole service or only says 2 words. I've learned that people are so different and so are their situations. Some people view this as an escape from home and a retreat where they can relax. Some people have anxiety and that relieves their stress when they can focus on something else. Some people just love to talk and do the entire service. So, I just try to roll with the flow and hope to make everyone's experience as comfortable as possible and uniquely, their own.

by the time the whole head is finished, the strands that were colored in the beginning must be damaged beyond repair. I don't understand why three colorists do not work at the same time on a head to avoid this.

Well, you are assuming wrong. Where did you get your cosmetology license? If 3 different people did your hair, you’d have 3 different highlight looks. We are not robots. We all paint hair differently. As a professional colorist, I make the adjustments necessary to my formulation throughout the service to ensure my clients hair is the healthiest it can be after receiving a highlight service.
