I just got an Epiphone ES-335 Pro for my birthday three days ago and I absolutely love it. I'm not much of a blues player,but it really does sound good with any other genre. I swear though,the first thing I played was Johnny B Goode on it lol.

I just love this style of guitar for it's versatility, which you outline perfectly. Jazz, Rock, County, this guitar can do it all. That is a beautiful example of a guitar. Thanks for sharing it Jason, and thanks Marty for this great clip.

Great lesson here Marty! Worked out at home jamming with two of you. AWESOME time. My only dislike with the video was Sinay talking about the cost of the es335 as it confirms that I will never own one. I thus purchased a Epi Sheraton II several years ago and it is my pauper version of the es335

That is truly a delicious sounding guitar, with so many clearly defined tones using just the knobs and switch. What every semi-hollowbody guitar wants to be! (There's a time and place for solidbody's and single coils, too)

Love this video! I recently purchased a red, 1984 Gibson ES335 "Lucille" at a swap meet. I had it setup by Skip Goez from St. Louis, MO. He traveled with Eric Clapton in the sixties, and setup his guitars like "Blackie" and "Brownie". They were in Florida for a concert at a Jailai stadium and Skip had "Blackie torn down as far as you can anyway, to re-fret it because it was giving Eric sore fingers! They were watching the players practice, heads turning back and forth, not talking, when Eric asked Skip "are you going to get that back together in time for the show? Lol

Marty, you could put the junkiest guitar in John Sinay's hands and it would sound like a million dollar guitar IMHO, but then at 9:40 Marty, you give the 335 great justice in your own right! Congrats on an awesome demo and story on John's vintage 335.

Jason says 1000% original but the knobs are wrong. I love the ES and I love Sinay: that said, the knobs are very wrong. No top hats were used until mid to late 1960.

Ya, I caught that right off too. I'd also be looking closely at the bridge if I had the guitar in hand. Something looked off to me. Can't be definitive though, the phone screen is pretty tiny.
@danielconrad764
@danielconrad764 Жыл бұрын
Agrees re knobs. The bridge can very well be a repro on account of the shallow neck angle that carried through into 1959, meaning the original either collapsed or was set aside and a shaved repro was installed.

Why is he using a straight jack lead on a 335. It should be right-angled - no wonder the jack socket is crackling. I don't get that he won't risk touring the 59 but risks hitting the straight jack and damaging the jack socket and top. How many 335 tops do we see with that damage caused by using a straight jack. Wouldn't let one near my 59. Needs to cut his L/H fingernails too.
