Im lucky enough to live near the legend Eddie Kramer and I've gotten to know the amazing, and very funny lad over the years. I was invited to his studio and we had an amazing time. The plan for him was to do some remastering for the original track data of Electric Ladyland (he was working on Gypsy Eyes that day) which was INSANE to hear the original playing recorded by this man, played by Jimi himself so long ago. After that we explored the gear in his live recording booth storage. He brought out this flying V hand painted by Eddie and Jimi, the story I was told by Eddie was that Jimi had contacted Gibson in '67 to get 3 prototype V's that are plain black and jimi and eddie painted three of them, 1 was used on stage as one of Jimis main guitars and the 2 before were more tests for the paint design. This one guitar was the 2nd one they did and eddie kept it. The headstock had a signature written " #2 Jimi Hendrix " on it. The feeling was so surreal and amazing, I am very fortunate to be able to say I've spent a day with Eddie, he's an incredibly smart and nice guy and super energetic and spry.

Saw Hendrix in 68' at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. First concert at 14. He has been my "Hero" ever since. Man, what a feeling that must have been playing one of his guitars. I would have been nervous and excited at the same time. Happy for you my man and also jealous. That had to be a dream come true. Loved the song that you recorded at the end. Amazing work. I am still smiling for you!!!!! You're right in that there is no way you can top that experience (no pun intended).

I'm a left handed player. I started playing on a black, 1960's inspired strat (not a Fender, I think it was an SX or something cheap like that) which I would just flip the strings since I didn't even know lefty guitars existed as a kid. It was uncomfortable to play, but I learned guitar on that thing. It was also black with a cream pickguard. It's not a special guitar by any means, and I don't own it anymore, but it's cool to think I got some sort of connection to Jimi Hendrix, having started out in a similar type of guitar. Great stuff!

The fact this guitar was Mike Bloomfield’s puts it on a whole other level. He’s not as known as his peers to the modern guitarist (sadly), but he was arguably just as influential as all the other OGs - so to go _from_ Hendrix _to_ Mike Bloomfield is like handing from one guitar god to the next. If you ever find yourself at guitar center in San Mateo, CA, ask them if they know what happened to a 1961 cream white vintage Les Paul SG. 3 gold humbuckers, vintage tuners, arrowhead markers on the 4 knob tone/volume. It's the Hendrix SG! if anyone deserves it imo - it's you!! My brother sold it to them a long time ago but it's a 7 digit SG... Worth the relic hunt if you like that sort of thing!

What cool experience. When I was 18 I got to hold and play a Jimmy Page prototype Les Paul that he actually played. Rumble Seat Music had it when they had a store location in Ithaca NY. I will never forget that. So I can relate to the surreal feeling.

Just a thought ... from a lefty. Old dude. Perchance the Pick-Ups are currently still set-up for Jimi hence the "overtone note" which you can "even on clean" hear it. The set up (noticeable in the video), indicates to me that someone at sometime likely adjusted them? The neck Pick-Up especially. In my opinion.

My late brother Peter Max Baranet owned this guitar for many years. I remember when he bought it, from Mike Bloomfield manager 1985. I remember when he borrowed the $15,000 from our dad to buy it. He stored the guitar under his friend's bed for 20 years. Every so often he would go over and play it. Some years ago my brother told me he had dinner with Buddy Miles. He recorded Miles saying Yes, this was the guitar that Hendrix gave him and he later gifted it to Nke Bloomfield. Unfortunately, that recorded conversation burned in a fire. To my knowledge, my brother never sold that guitar. I'm sure if he did he would have mentioned it to me. After my brother died in March 2023, he died without a will which means all of his guitars including this one would go to myself and my sisters, Tina and Michelle. As it turns out my two sisters who are both Scientologists stole all of my brother's guitars including this one, and they are in the process of selling them. They made it very clear they are not including me in the proceeds. My sister lies and tells people that Max gave her all of his guitars before he died. I don't believe that, but Cest la vie! Thank you for posting this video,. I have always been a Jimi Hendrix fan ever since my older brother Max took me to see Hendrix on his first USA tour when I was just 14. Chris Baranet

There is still one more step up. Although if the guitar is strung the same way he did. Many would have a hard time playing it. I know he looked up to JH but it's not his fault he was born after the man. Sometimes the humblest of souls are the greatest there ever was. I know it is an opinion, and everyone has one. So this is mine. Although I'm not sure how easily you would be able to get your hands on one of his guitars.

I don't know if this music track reflects in any way what Hendrix would be doing. But, I like the spirit of exploration, and definitely enjoyed hearing how the guitar sounds at this time. I also don't see how he played some of the guitars which were reportedly his unless he were ambidextrous. Many who claim to be lefty's are. All the best to you!

I was lucky enough to play Jimi's white Strat in a 7-11 parking lot in Orlando (around 2001-02). I was hanging with the curator of the now defunct Hardrock Vault in Orlando. He had to "pick something up" at a warehouse on the drive back to my car. I sat in the car while he went in. He came out and put a road case in the backseat. As we're driving he asks "don't you want to know what I just picked up?" I say YES, but didn't want to be nosey. He said Jimi's white Strat on loan from his family. When we got back to the 7-11 he let me play it in the front seat of his car. No amp - but it was just the coolest thing ever!
