I bought two of these sets at a train show for 55 dollars total last year,both new in box. I keep one as is sealed in the box. However i did re-work the paint schemes on the other sets freight cars to match/look like actual Canadian railroads .

President's choice is the store brand for Loblaws grocery stores in Canada. 15-20 years ago they had food marketed to kids under the "mini chefs" line, but I have no idea why it was made into a model train set. I can't find the original price because it's from 2004 and only collectors post about it

After doing some investigating, I found out that President's Choice is a brand of food items sold in Loblaw grocery stores in Canada (similar to what the Great Value brand is to Walmart stores). Mini Chefs just happens to be a line of kid-friendly foods such as frozen chicken nuggets and graham crackers. This set more than likely was a promotional item for the Loblaw grocery chain.
