I love that cover of Where's Mommy Now so much. It delights me every time I see it. I just really enjoy the color palette for covers like it and Tarottown and Darkly the Thunder. That's so disappointing that Christmas Babies is not in fact about babies during Christmastime. That UK cover of Witch Beast *chef's kiss* and the front and back cover to Baby Grand is so good. I know I'm forgetting a bunch of cool ones, but just goes to show you how great 70s through 90s horror covers really are (even if they don't always have anything to do with the story itself).

Was wondering when you were gonna get back to this series! As always, I already bought some of the books you showed, lol. Agreed on the covers of Night Show, Demon’s Fright and Campfire Story. So, sooo good. Btw, you need to check out the rest of Ronald Kelly’s books. Hindsight, the Possession, Something Out There, Moon of the Werewolf… he was one of the more reliable horror authors of that era. Looking forward to the next vid! PS- you’re gonna love those UK Richard Lewis nasties. Spiders was awesome! I can’t wait to read his sequel, the Web. Night Killers was very disturbing. That book scarred me… so intense and a constant dread builds up in that book. Plus some truly horrific deaths that have never left me. Damn cockroaches…

Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I always have my eye out for more Ronald Kelly. A great author and a good guy! I think I have copies of all those Richard Lewis books coming. I say “I think” because a friend of mine knows a seller who is getting rid of their Lewis books and my friend is negotiating the sale. I can’t remember which titles they are exactly, but it’s quite a few and I know for a fact Spiders is one of them 😄

Very lovely vintage horror collection. So many beautiful copies! It was interesting to see you show a gothic romance. That genre of the 1960s & 70's has been one of my occasional "guilty pleasures" for many years (though I stopped feeling guilty long ago). Great atmosphere: mansions with hidden passages, misty statue-strewn gardens, foggy seashores, etc.,. Many have awesome covers too, usually featuring the obligatory image of a woman running from a spooky castle or mansion with one lit window. Some favorites: Monica Heath, Dorothy Daniels, Miriam Lynch, Marilyn Ross, etc.,.Though I love the mystery & gothic elements of the stories, I really don't care for the "romance" (which often involve the heroine predictably falling for some domineering guy who treats her like sh*t). I just thought I'd comment on that genre since I don't hear others talk about them much.

Looking up these books it's always cool to see some of them still in print, but it's also disappointing because they tend to give these recent editions TERRIBLE covers. The Johnstone books are a good example of this. Which, you know, ultimately don't judge a book by it's cover, but it's such a huge part of the appeal that you can't help but feel let down when you come across a bad one. Great video as always, Cameron!

I read The Devil's Kiss first the Johnstone horror line. The first four books are very good for what they are, at least Toy Cemetery makes them look like masterpieces in comparison. Many of his horror novels are loosely connected in what I call the Devilverse, which all portray on a "game" played by God and Satan, focusing on one of God's chosen warriors. God likes His warriors. Carnival was unfortunately a chore of a slog to read with a villain with an inconsistent alignment. Toy Cemetery is nuts, full of problems, but you barely mind them.
