Vintage Ice Shaver Machine Restoration

This is my uncle's ice shaver machine. He asked me to restore it. I need two weeks to finish this project.

Vintage, but here that thing is still common everywhere. I don't know if that's because we're poor or we just need a constant need of shaved ice. It's perfect for tropical country that consist of 2 seasons, hot and hotter. Seeing this shiny ice shaver is greatest thing ever, great job!

Protip. Heat the bolts up HOT.. Cherry red hot. Then let them cool. The heat breaks the corrosion that has them stuck.

Neat to see an old saw mill blade being re-used. That's what the zig-zags on the blade are. Old saw mill blades are often remade into decent knives, and here is one razor sharp.

you think you could use a battery pwered drill and brace to turn the handle to make it automatic. Is that food grade greese. Do you worry about the greese driping into the kakigoori.

I'm no metal worker but I know that as something gets hotter it expands. That being said wouldn't it be best to heat the surrounding metal instead of the bolt directly?

Ice shaver machines are all about the cutting edge! It's better to sharpen it with a whetstone. Also, nail is better for holding the ice firmly.
