Damn. I do miss that kind of fan. There used to be an exact design fan as in video at my work in high school. It was in auto shop that had been closed down into woodshop and fan is history during serious remodel.RIP

Generally, the larger the fan, the more air it can move! You want to exhaust still air, fumes, or anything toxic quickly so workers/personnel dont breathe it in.
