This was a nice video for you to do! I have never seen a 'haul' video so now the standard has been set and it is set high! I have been a picker/antique dealer since I was in my teens and now at almost 51 I have seen a lot of changes in collecting trends fun fun/cool kitchen items never loose their appeal. I am amazed the 1970's style items are so popular since I remember them but it is nice to see younger people collecting things that are vintage and perfectly usable. It is the ultimate recycling, just use what already exists! And it's often a better buy!

Hey Donal, I'm just getting around to some of these older vid's good stuff though. When my Mom passed I got all her old stuff and there was A LOT of it. Stuff from my Grandmother and her mother as well. Some well over one hundred years old. Hand made wooden bowls,plates and canisters, wrought iron pots and pans, silver tea and coffee sets, old gadgets some of which I still haven't figured out what the heck they do. Tureens, molds,egg coddlers, old cook books 12 sets of china, it made me wonder how much history is wrapped up in our kitchens? I'll keep watching, Thanks.

We have a lot of these vintage suitcases at home and they date back to my mom's wedding. Each one is unique and covered with beautiful paper from the inside and they smell so good because we usually put bars of soap between the clothes inside them

That is so funny I do the same thing. I kind of have a thing for old wooden spoons. I have also found some really long sliver forks that are great for getting out pickles from jars, and other uses like that. Oh dear,lol,I would not wanna be the cleaner in your home,Donal,haha.I used to be a vociferous hoarder but had to force myself to quit when I downsized to a smaller apartment.But there really isn't anything better than strolling round vintage markets/junk shops etc,it's (slightly),cheaper than therapy,lol.You have some wonderful items in your collection.

I loved all these things! The funny thing is, although I don't cook or bake, I loooove vintage kitchenware. One of my favorite things to buy at estate sales is old silver items, especially if they're tarnished. It always makes me happy to see other people who appreciate vintage things as well :) As for if anything is worth a lot, I'm not sure but one thing you could check is if the little pitcher is made of carnival glass. I don't think it was because I don't think it was the right color--although that coloring did look more like Depression glass. Anyway one way to tell if something is Depression glass is to put it under black light. If it fluoresces, it's typically genuine and pre-1945 (at least for things from the US, I guess I don't know if that's also the case in Europe) and if it doesn't fluoresce then it's a reproduction or post-1945. The pitcher might be none of these things but I thought of those glassware when I saw it in that glimpse. The best bet would be to bring it all to someone who's into antiquing someday and have them assess it. You can find a fair bit of information about antique authentication online too for different types of materials and items. I'm not sure if they do the same thing near you but in my state in the US they also sometimes do community education classes where you can take free or very minimal cost classes on different topics. They did one on antiques once that I attended which is where I learned the black light rule.

I seldom have money to go and do things.But when I do, I go to Goodwill, our local charity shop. My town has lots of money, so once or twice a year I go and buy used clothes that fit my 3X size. But what I really like to do is go and look for hand made glass, baskets and pottery. You never know what treasures you may find doing so. Because I watch Antiques Road Show, I know how to tell what things are hand made. I have a small collection of about 20 things, but it will be growing in time. I have given a few away as gifts over time.

Great video! I too have an obsession with vintage kitchen items (mostly utensils and pitchers,) and luggage. A tip about the old lady smell: try lining the suitcase with muslin or the like to protect the item, then filling it with deodorizing cat litter and let it sit for about a week. After that, a sachet of coffee grounds or herbs help keep it fresh. :)

Another great vintage thing to look out for is old cast iron skillets. They may look rusty but once they're cleaned they still work really well, plus they look freaking cool! :)

These are all absolutely lovely, my favourites were probably the green glass jug, the saucers, and of course the suitcase. This is also really relatable for me, except my weakness is old tins... I've probably got around thirty of them, and I try to keep their original purpose. As a result, I've got three coffee tins (I might have a problem). Loved the video, keep it up :)
