In Loving memory of my forever girl Deana Marie Sullivan. This is the very same line up that we seen together at Memphis in May. We had such a fun time hanging with Stevie Salas, Taylor Hawkins and Tony Reyes at Rum Boogie. I will never forget you and the wonderful memories together. I LOVE YOU FOREVER!! Until we meet again... 💔

By 1994, he was working in a music shop and playing for Sylvia - “a bad Jane’s Addiction rip-off band.” Eventually, he was recruited by blues rocker Sass Jordan, whose band were set to tour Europe as support to Aerosmith. "Guitarist Stevie Salas was very critical of your drumming when you joined Sass Jordan’s band a few years before Foo Fighters. What did you learn from him?" “I literally went from thinking I was the greatest drummer in the world to finding out that I wasn’t, and that I had a lot of work to do. You lose a lot of confidence, but I got a better perspective. That was a good lesson for me. I needed it at the time. I didn’t listen to anybody before him because I thought I was the greatest. Every day I go into the studio, I’m working to get better and get my craft together. It’s all about the work. I learned that from Stevie.”

And Sass recognized Taylor was untamed when she hired him , But she felt his energy on the and off the stage was what the band needed , And yes Steve was the one to guide him and keep his energy

Now that's a unique voice! Great songwriting. No fuzzy perms, no see through tights... Talent!

👏Totally agree with you! The only reason I’m glad to be old (54), is because I was fortunate to have lived during a time when musical talent was important, so I personally witnessed amazing artists like Sass! It’s good to see other people like you, appreciate that talent! Hopefully the industry will someday return to its glory! Have a GREAT day!😊

Gutted as it is said. I'm a fortunate one having seen Mr Hawkins in three of his bands, with Ms Jordan, Ms Morissette, and of course the Foo Fighters. May God wrap his arms around his family, his friends and bandmates and keep them close. RIP thank you for the music.

I saw him with all 3 also....and got to meet Taylor/Dave after a Foos concert....I also talked to Taylor on the phone once...I called his high end hotel to see if he collected vintage drums/cymbals..no,he said...R.I.P.

@@blairholben6297 Wow, that’s sad! Were the band having problems that day, or did the people just not appreciate the talent they were seeing?

The recent Taylor Hawkins tribute show brought me here. Sorry, but when I think of Hawkins, I think of Sass Jordan. She sang a great version of "Stay with Me" with the Foo Fighters, and I couldn't stop with that. So here I am.

I won some tickets from a radio station and went to see her in Atlanta during this tour... It was an old movie theater with the seats removed...the floor was tilted toward the stage...cozy little place... But man, she blew the roof off..! She put her heart and soul into each song... I fell in love that night...

To think Sass Jordan introduced Taylor Hawkins to Alanis Morrisette. Taylor toured with Alanis for over a year and met Dave Grohl while on tour. Then Taylor joined Foo Fighters. The rest is history.
