Hear it in action: • Overcome - Lewin Barri... There are a TON of vintage mics from the 1950's that no one pays attention to. Let's talk about that! #Garageband #Garagebandandbeyond #HomeStudio

Really, when you switch to the vintage microphone it was like i was time traveling, it sounded like an old 50’s commercial. Amazing

Actually found a 630 in a microphone catalog from the late 40s, so it apparently goes back prior to 1953.

Home hobbyist. In looking at gear and plugins that do cool things and creative uses of effects I've come to understand one concept. You can use or do nearly anything that makes or shapes sound. But the learning curve is using it "musically."

Got one on eBay at an auction for about 40$ can’t wait to test it out

My families old business has one of these. Not sure what the new owners will do with it but it would be a neat piece if I could convert it to a pc mic

As soon as you said garageband, I hit that sub button.

This microphone was actually introduced in the 1940's, not the 1950's, the earliest ones (like mine) have a yellow switchplate. Only the Hi Z versions are good for dirty blues harmonica, these will probably have a Switchcraft type adapter so you can just plug a guitar cable into it. Also sold under the brand Auricon, these are often black and usually low Z.

id ask if youve done the research on every video reviewing a mic before yours but you seem like the type to just say yes.. crazy you can hear the eq on every mic meaning you know them intimately as well as every bit of hardware its attached to. assuming everyone is dumb and misleading cuz youre just better i guess. i love the "dedicated to garage band" caveat

OK cool, sounds interesting during your interminable talking, but what can you USE it for? Maybe next time, you know, point it at a snare drum or amp or, you know, a musical instrument of some kind. It's not rocket science.

The EV630 makes a great harmonica mic...I use the high impedance version plugged into a guitar amp, but have run it into a DI box for lo-fi vocals.

Theyre not cheap, and none of them below $100 have anything. The adapter is $55. Youre looking at $100 / $150 now 😢
