Vintage OTIS elevator at the Cornell Hotel De France San Francisco, CA

(May 2021) They told me they were planning on replacing this elevator soon. I don't know if it is still there as of 2024. If somebody could check up on it that would be great. During this visit for some reason it would not visit the basement.

I do think they should try and keep as much as possible. Just automating the doors as they are. It doesn’t need much especially as it’s running so smooth.

It just gets harder and harder to find parts for these old machines. Sometimes the cost of maintaining an old elevator far exceeds the value of a new one with readily available parts

The only elevator I’ve been on that’s like this was the elevator at grove park inn. I hope I can ride more pieces of history like this! Also I love the accordion in the background

I want this elevator to still be vintage elevator and not boring mod plain I can’t stand that. But super happy that it is live on the video and remembered forever and ever.
