Instead of just throwing new parts onto an old bike, you actually took the time and care to actually restore the old parts. Now THIS is a proper restoration. Bravo!!!

Been a mechanic for almost 50 years and used to own a nice Peugeot PX-10J? from the late 70's. Bottom Axle Tapers should NEVER have grease applied before attaching Crank arms. These are an air tight fit and ALL grease should be cleaned off the taper and crank arm before initially being tightened down and checked again after your first ride. A common issue is for these type of crank arms to bottom out on the tapers when grease is applied or over tightened which will cause the crank arms to wobble on the axle and get ruined. Phil Wood used to sell sealed bottoms with over sized axle tapers which fixed the problem if your crank arms were bottoming out (much better bottom bracket as well). Another trick is when cutting the electrical tape off to finish wrapping your bars cut the corners off at an angle. This keeps the tape ends from spreading out. You can use hand cleaner to remove all the glue left over on the bars when you removed the old tape, it makes the brake levers easier to install again when the bars are clean. It is to bad they put the internal brake cable openings on the right side of the frame top tube as the rear brake causes the cable to cross over behind the seat post which I think does not look as clean as when the cable exits on the left side. Before I sold my Peugeot I stripped the frame paint like you and manually filed down all the lugs before I had it professionally painted White again with Dupont Imron paint. I think the frame looked much nicer with the filed lugs. My frame had a partially Chrome fork which I kept when it was repainted. I think the bike came out looking great and I appreciate that you cleaned up the frame and repainted it and the new decals really made it pop. Thanks for showing us your work and making the video.

Loved the actual renovation part. Covered a lot in a short space of time; very useful. In my opinion the ride part needs to be chopped down to two minutes or less. Very trusting to ride without a helmet on the roads.

I have the same bike, from new, great bike it’s 40 years old and still going , great fun to ride and in profit against renewing it ! Not a bike that people would steal ! ( I hope) hope to be riding it for many years to come. Mine still factory paint work also.

Helps me to work on renovating my bike from my teenage years. A Youngs frame bought in 1963, ridden for tens of thousands of miles and raced over a ten year period then stored half a century. Gearing compared to today's bikes is laughable - 53/45 x 6 (12 to 21)... how the heck did I climb the hills of Kent, Surrey and Sussex?

I am about to pull the trigger on this Peugeot with RX100's on it. This gave me inspiration to just say yes. Looking for that resto-bike of my dreams lol. IDK about year though, as I am uneducated with production models with Peugeot and RX100 gear sets and CAD on the body. Either way, wish me luck and nice vid! ty so much!

Fantastic!!!! Master craftsman at work. Watched it right to the end. I am working on a U08. Nice to know what can be done. Like how you set the front brake to go from the left handgrip directly to the brake and the rear brake from the right hand grip into the top tube then out to the rear brake. What shifters did you install? What cables did you use - brakes / gears? What seat is installed? Brake pads? Thanks

Hi there SJMResto, I need your help. I have recently seen your ytbe vid on the restoration of a 1960 BSA wayfarer/town bike. I'm restoring the exact same bike. I've hit a problem. Finding the seattube white and gold BSA decal internet is throwing up nothing, in your vid you put that exact decal I've been looking for onto your bikes seattube. Where did you get that decal from I really need to know. Thanks in advance... Spencer lucas
