Vintage postcard haul for Postcrossing

I bought a "mystery pack" of 100 vintage postcards from a second-hand website called "Marktplaats". All I know is that they are viewcards from the Netherlands and I requested mainly castles, churches and old buildings. And I also requested no ad cards. I'm curious to find out which postcards I got!

lol at the 1993 Christmas card. Vintage cards are always interesting to me and unless someone specifically says they don't want them I think they'd appreciate them

What an amazing haul! 😃 I especially love the cards with the old buildings. They're so beautiful, also I find the restaurant and museum cards really fascinating. I'll definitely have to do some research to get some vintage cards myself 😊As for ad cards, in my opinion, if the person specified that they want vintage cards, it shouldn't matter too much if there is the address of the place on the back, as I feel like them being vintage already adds some value to it. But I also am not so sure about the definition of an ad card myself. Maybe if a card advertises a product it becomes an ad card, and if it advertises a place it might be different? but I really don't know, maybe it's a personal preference again😄

Thank you! I'm glad you like them so much! At first I was worried, but now I feel much better about this haul. Knowing that people like them😄It's so funny because I thought the restaurant cards would be not interesting, so it's so cool to know that you find them interesting! It just shows how everyone has different likes and there will be a person for every card😊It's very vague, isn't it? And sometimes there are really cool ad cards! I just don't know when someone says 'no ad card'. I would probably send something from a postcard box just in case. Or take the gamble, I don't know how strict the 'no this' are.

Wowww...a big stash of interesting postcards. All the building ones....I know for sure some postcrossers have this wish in their profile. Same as you, I am always wondering about the ad cards. Reading the preferences and see the image is matching with one of the wishes of the recipient I surely will sent that postcard. When the postcrosser makes clear not to be a fan of ad cards than I will choose another one, to avoid disappointment.

It's always fun to find a matching postcard, which is why I also buy postcards especially for Postcrossing. Like this haul🙂I'm glad you like them! Yeah, I would probably not send the ones I'm unsure about if someone says 'no ad card'. It's just not entirely clear to me when it really is or isn't an ad card. Maybe the definition depends on the person. Would be a shame though if it was very fitting otherwise, but that's also on the recipient, since they excluded it. Maybe they don't want you to send them something that was free? But if I buy an ad card it isn't free...🤔

You received some really nice cards in this postcard haul. I would not think those cards are ad cards. Instead, I think cards that are trying to sell a product, or an art show, or something like that are ad cards. The cards showing old hotels are not ad cards, and many people really love to collect those. Loved your video! 💜

Thank you for your explanation. I had no idea old hotels are actually very popular! Seems that this haul is better than I initially thought😊What about the ones that have a lot of text on the back though? I don't know if I could write on it. Maybe I could send it as a second card in an envelope?

The ones with text on the back are tricky and I don't think you could send them as a regular Postcrossing card. However, there are a lot of people who collect those, so maybe you could save it in case you come across someone with that in their profile and then send it with a written card in an envelope. @@stationerypanda

😂It's so weird and funny to be quoted haha, now I'm a little embarrassed. I say the weirdest things😳But it is a genuine question I have. Yes you are so right, I have that feeling too. But the puzzle is connecting the right card to the right person! What do you think, if someone doesn't say anything about vintage cards: trash or nice?

@@stationerypanda Oh, I'm sorry if I've embarrassed you! But I share your sentiment, I also ask myself those kinds of questions when I choose a card. I think it's never trash, even if people didn't ask for vintage cards. One can always find something related to the recipient taste, even if it is a vinatge card.

Somehow I thought there was a lot of "dislike" towards vintage cards, but now I don't know where I got that from. Maybe I read it on the Postcrossing forum a while ago, but perhaps it was just 1 person who thought it was trash, because they seem quite popular after all!
