VERY informative production clearly explaining the types and basic functions of the various railroad signals we railfanners see when chasing trains. 🚂

"In those days, railroads were run by calendar instead of by timetable" Heh. I love these old railroad videos, and this channel is a treasure trove. Subbed. Lovely old video. And interesting to see the different signals used in the US. I grew up learning the German signals... we had a model train set from the leading brand in Europe back then, and that was all German. Funny how the way they detected trains back then is exactly the same as the modern version of this model railroad brand does it: by detecting the train's wheels and axle bridging the left and right rail.

A lot of meticulous work went into engineering these. It seems so new and undiscovered then.
