Back in the early 70s, clackers were the coolest toy. My friends had them, and I begged my mom to buy it for me. I had it for about a week when a news article came out about how the resin could come apart and possibly hit a childs eye. My mom took my awesome toy away because she thought I could go blind😅. That's my 70s memory of the famous clackers.

We used to play marbles with these in the field at school. We called them "jumbos". I love these, I have a purple set, an orange/amber set, blue set & a green&blue pineapple shaped lamp made of these big grapes. My "grail" would be an aqua or turquoise colored set. So beautiful. Nice to see when someone else appreciates these things too

Yes! We called them "rosins" and it was a big fad in my elementary school in the 80s to collect interesting examples and play a sort of marbles-like game with them at recess. We played for keeps, though, which led to obvious problems and eventually the school banned them.

@@JordanSugarman that's exactly what happened at our school, good times though

We did the same and we called them crapes not sure why but the big ones we called the Joker. My friends and I carried them to school in a big tube sock and would meet at recess to play. I only have like four singles left and constantly looking for them. I honestly have talked to other people and no one knew what they were or ever played so I’m glad to know my school was not the only one 😂.

Very cool collection! I’ve seen so many beautiful resin, lucite, and alabaster variations circulating in the second hand market for crazy expensive prices...but wow 🤩

We had lamps made out of these grapes when I was a kid and I love the soft lighting it gave. My mom made them and I wish I knew how.

The resin hobby was popular for housewives in the mid-1960s. My late mother had that hobby and made electric switch plates, the resin grapes and fruits, and even a few tissue box holders as well as small dolphin statues. Stuff had a very strong odor when liquid. Very attractive and pretty colors were possible in that the crafter mixed in the dye as desired.

That’s exactly what I made mine from in the late 70’s

My mom found hundreds of these at the thrift store lose. She brought elm home and we made this beautiful lamp out of emm and the light is so soft and calming. Then of course my dad took 10 of them went to the shop put elm in the drill press vise abd made a few sets of hackers for me and my two little brothers. I'm 30 now this was when i was lile 10

Do yall remember Home Interior? Lol. I think everyone of our moms had home interior parties & a bunch of those ugly gold home interior decorations around the house. Lol. Especially those gold wall candle holders & stuff like that. Lol.

You can drill into them and super glue in the wires then thread them through a "stem" and make yourself another bunch.

Just got some lucite grapes on the stem similar to yours. Mine I’d say are a mixture of Amber, yellow & gold. Can you tell me how you properly clean these?

Where can I get some of the old ones. Cause the new ones don't work the string is to heavy.
