The 1665 was my first Rolex. I didn’t appreciate it at the time because of the crystal… Lexan. I was a young Green Beret. Today I wear a 16600.

In 1979 I was working for General Motors as a mechanical engineer at GM Tec Center, Warren. At that time I already had a GMT-Master for 5 years, and was satisfied at this watch. But when visited Tiffany's inNYC, I found that all the watches there were stamped "TIFFANY & CO" on the dial. So I decided to buy one for my memories. My piece is a little bit different from yours. Side of the bezel is not polished. My "last" watch still works good. From Japan

I like the vintage Submariner shape so much more than the maxicases.

A badass watch. And without the cyclops, which I think is a positive point.

Mine's a 5.7mil serial number same rail dial. My crystal is domed but sits higher like it's a box crystal probably a replacement along the way.

This is what I wear. Exact same watch, descriptors, reference #, movement #, dial, etc. Bracelet is 93150. Pretty cool to hear it reviewed and described. Not 100% sure on the year.

I have one of these dials with a patent pending bracelet, is that peculiar? That would suggest it would be a DRSD, and the rail dial came much after, an aftermarket dial perhaps or did they service these to these dials eventually? It’s very confusing to m
