Very nice work.. That ratchet could use a little grease to quiet it down.. Sounds a little dry... Again nice video..

That was and is one of my Favorite restos !!!!!!! I like the way it turned out and love the color , I don't understand why everyone polishes and buffs in such detail , its a tool and is made to use , your restoration is practical , and the vise is 100% functional and ready to go to work !!!!!!

A world-class product, from when 'Made In England' meant something. A useful video - I didn't see you apply any grease to the mating surfaces of the bed or slide before assembly ? That would have made the initial fit a lot easier.

Nice vise! I have the exact same one, Record 112P in steel (P for plain screw as opposed to quick-slide)

Finding a good shape vintage vice is like finding a dinky vice in a haystack!! People are hoarding them and selling them at a very expensive price! Keep movies coming on restored vices just love it!!! Bye shipmate!!!

A great video and restoration, especially considering it’s your first video. I liked the cleaning up "Made in England" part of the video, very well edited. You did just the perfect amount of restoration and didn’t take away all its history. The last time I went to paint anything 'Record blue' it came out more a Man City blue. A really enjoyable video, looking forward to seeing more from you and I’ve subscribed.

Well, this has gotta be said you have done a GREAT restoration there, you did right buying that Roundel paint, the cost don't really matter as you've treated it to it's proper colour, l have just bought a Record 110 QR vice, same as yrs on one side it says RECORD STEEL HEAVY DUTY they really are a great vice and are worth a good amount of cash l was lucky as l got mine for £40 but l would have paid much more as these are genuine Sheffield made l did the same used Roundel blue, and it's well lubed with moly grease, oh and l sank a RSJ concreted in the garage and it's bolted on. Which makes no vibration at all when working on it.

Watching this restoration video, brings back memories of my restoration of the same vice. Only mine was a little bit more beat up than yours and my process was a lot more made up as I went along and I used fire lol. You used the same paint so obviously you're paying homage to the original high five for that. I noticed on your channel you do a woodworking vice as well. So two of your videos are ones, I was planning to do. You beat me to it lol. Good work on the restoration buddy. Look forward to seeing more of your videos. Also was there a reason you didn't use the primer. I'm curious how much a difference it makes to not use the primer.
@worseforwearrestoration9245 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for this, I used paragon enamel paint specifically because they are durable, resistant to oils, water etc and resistant to heat up to 170ºC, which is all perfect for a vice, plus they did it in the original record blue colour. I didnt use primer because on the official website it says the first coat of paint acts as a self priming coat anyway so it is not needed. It wont make any difference to the adhesion of the paint if you dont use primer, however primer is good if you're looking for a higher standard finish as you can sand the primer between coats and it will help to hide any imperfections. I however wanted any imperfections to show through as i think it gives it more character. Hope this helps!

@@worseforwearrestoration924 I remember seeing that but it does say to use the primer later lol. I went ahead and used the primer on mine. I'm curious how different the two would look in a side by side comparison.

Lovely job. Nice old vice. Don't make stuff like that anymore. That paint ain't cheap is it? Bloody hell. 20 odd quid for a half litre. I'd have highlighted the lettering, other than that a perfect job. A sub from me!
