VINTAGE Schwinn heavy weight bicycle slide show

I own a repop 1995 Black Phantom and a few Stingray and Krates. I had the opportunity to attend the Ann Arbor Bicycle Show and Swap Meet as well as Memory Lane Classics swap meet. I was able to see all kinds of vintage bikes.

i had a 28'' balloon tire bike in 1959 ,if u had a very slight decline in the road, with one pedal revolution ,you would glide for miles ,and never pedal. I used to have to pull up to a stoop to get on and off that monster of a bike.

That was cycle trucks bring back memories I can remember at the age of 11 being a newspaper boy that was my first bicycle it was a money maker up until the age of 16 I still wish I had that old bicycle.

@thekatna That bicycle is a 1950s Schwinn "Hornet" model. "Arnold" was the last name of an investor in the Schwinn company. In 1968 or thereabouts the company became known as "The Schwinn Bicycle Company", and the Arnold name was dropped. Thank you for watching.

The best way to value a vintage bike nowadays is to search completed auctions on ebay. 90% of the vintage Schwinn business is done on ebay. Some Schwinns are worth a lot of money, others, not so much. It is true that a 50-year-old Schwinn with a tune-up, new tires and lubrication is better than any department store bike made by any "Asian" brand. The China bikes sold in big-box chain stores (Including the Schwinns from Wally-World) are of very poor quality. - Thank you for watching.

Great schwinns I just bought a new Schwinn Delmar, I just found out they haven't been made in the USA for sometime now.I'm thinking of getting a second bike either a classic Schwinn or I also saw a company called Worksman that says there still made in the USA.

I saw two Schwinn Phantoms a couple days ago, a guys model and a womens model, locked up on a bike rack. I seriously regret not taking a video of them.

Yes I was wondering about the blue and creme bike at 2:54 in the video. My brother has one just like it except its red and creme. We think its a 1946 but not sure of name or model of bike. If you know what it is we would sure like to know! thanks elbboww

I know you are talking about. One day I was walking around these woods and went in to a abanded house and found a Schwinn. Speedster. From the 60s Nd a. Good year bike from the 60s and on the speedster. I just bought new tired and tubes oiled it up and it rides better than other new bikes at Walmart or. Those stores that sell bikes

@elbboww Hello, Same answer as before. I think they are both autocycles. I have the exact same bike in red in my collection but it is a B.F. Goodrich made by Schwinn and it is called a "Challenger". Regards, Jim

I'm a 60 y.o. boomer and had a Hornet when I was about 7. Out of curiosity what are these bikes going for these days in good or restored condition. Someone told me a mint condition Schwinn gets over a thousand dollars and more. Is this true? One thing for sure they're pure Americana. No other country built boys bikes for style like what was made in post war America. Schwinn ruled the streets when I was a kid.

Even worse is that the Wally World Schwinn bikes are built better than the other brand beach cruisers they have there. Which still isn't saying much for their quality.
