I love the fact that you show us these vintage machines and you make them work so well! I have a vintage German machine, made in the 80s probably (very similar to Pfaf models), it's sewing great, but once in a while the bobbin will clog up. Or thread will be stuck under the feed dogs. I plan on taking the machine apart and giving it a good clean and oli. I already took some lint and dust out of the bobbin space, i hope that I'll be able to clean it well. I am not sure if in my area there are authorized mechanics (I live in a more remote area in Romania) so I am trying to do the best I can. Keep up the good work, I love your videos!

Do the Kenmore 148.25 have a reverse to backstitch? I just found one but it is seized up & needs TLC. Need to buy manual and study it. I’m used to Singer & Brother. The Kenmore looks like a great machine but I’m not finding the particular model I have on any KZbin videos yet. Oh wait! Cool! There’s 2 knobs-special stitches and width. Then, there’s a lever that sez stitch length reverse. It looks like the capital R, at the top of the lever, is the Reverse. … I enjoy how you teach. Thank you.

Did you find out what the model number of this machine was? I have the same sewing machine and the identification plate is also missing.

Thanks for the video. I was given a 158 905 model Kenmore but when I sew it starts out OK but then quickly drags the material and the material does not advance. I can't figure out why. There is no info for my particular 158 that doesn't help me even when reviewing the closet model. I've done everything I could think of to prevent this. Would you have a clue as to why this is happening?

Research the 158.850 as they may be similar from what I remember.

According to a Sears download of the manual, you threaded or wound the bobbin wrong. That being said, my Singer 15-91 winds or turns the way you described.

Funny you should say this. I recently learned, after 2 years of putting my bobbin into the case (on a similar kenmore I used constantly) going counter clockwise, that it's not the right way. I think someone told me to do it that way a long time ago. Now whenever I correct a customer they are shocked. I don't blame them, I never had any issues myself.
