Welcome to Vintage Story Desert Life! This is a chill, come-as-you-are series dedicated to living and building in the serene austerity of the desert. This isn't intended to be a "challenge" or "extreme survival" series, though, and we won't be limited to spending all of our time in the desert. Join me as we turn this rolling, sandy expanse into a bastion of civilization, but make sure to dress appropriately and bring lots of sunscreen!

That little settlement of yours reminds me more and more each day of Lut Gholein, desert city from Diablo 2, you even have an entrance to the sewers/catacombs right in front of your home!

Great content as always, I built a desert Oasis and Had my garden at the top of a tower. I think it was between 35-45 blocks high and allowed me to grow flax with a better yield. I am in no way saying build a tower just simply sharing information. Also, The Freakin color pallets you choose are outstanding, HOW? Do you use a color wheel? Have you been to an Art school? Whats your Favorite TEA ? Lol ✌

:D Thanks for the compliment! I think I discussed building UP a few streams back, to take advantage of the temperature decrease with altitude. I'm planning something around that but not quite ready yet. I didn't go to an art school, but I did take plenty of art classes, and I have practical experience at my job, which has necessitated some self-education in proper color theory. I did a color theory video in the second season of the Guide series; you should check it out! :) Favorite tea? Earl grey, hands-down. ;)

Yeah, I wonder if it's been reported as a bug, which it definitely is, given that I have stability turned off.

@@Kurazarrh Im hoping Tyron fixes that soon... It makes it a lot harder to chisel. Well, not harder, but definitely a lot more annoying.

dragon age inquisition ,is a pretty good rpg plus the character you play has a voice as you mentioned your not interested in Bethesda( its free atm on the epic games store till 23rd may) I don't know if its worth a try for anyone that feels the same. I enjoy watching your streams, very relaxing and always fun :)

Thank you! Yeah, I've actually played DA:I. I enjoyed the writing and especially the interpersonal banter in that game! Though that's about all I remember about the game, it's been so long.

@@Sarafimm2 Weird. I wonder if it's showing the fuzzed number and not the real/raw number. Which is still zero (KZbin Studio gives creators a more powerful microscope for looking at this stuff!). :)

hey, Kura! 1:37, looking at the purple heart. does the ground type planted on, have any effect on the tree? like how long till spawn? it'd be interesting if sand was as bad, or worse than low ferility soil, unless specifically cactus. though looking at the wiki, I don't see anything about growth speed modifiers. so maybe I answered my own question. maybe it'd be something to consider mentioning to the devs.

No, the ground type has no bearing on tree growth speed. If you can plant a tree seed somewhere, it will always grow at the same rate. The "proper" solution is probably to remove the ability to plant trees in sand at all, and restrict the planting of trees in muddy gravel to bald cypress. But given that all it takes is a single block of dirt to grow a tree, and that's not realistic either, I don't think it matters a whole lot from a balance/realism perspective. (Also, once a tree grows, you can remove the block it's on and put whatever you want down there... even air!)

@@Kurazarrh yeah, is true. floating trees...very...blockgamey, huh? oh well, I guess they can only add so much realism, before it becomes "too" realistic, i guess.
