The build quality on old tools is generally so much better than what's currently available in the budget range that refurbing them is almost always worth the bother.

Very great job. .....and sandblasting without smiley is no sandblasting ! 😃😃😃😃😃

simple restoration but your skills are higher than it so it really shows of your attention to detail that most miss like the handle.

Wow, thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it! I love how the handle turned out.

Beautiful restoration. Old hardened grease can be a chore to remove, not to mention messy. Excellent work.

Nice restoration. I used one of those back in the 70's greasing backhoes and tractors. That back cap unscrews from the main body, by the way. :) You can use grease tubes with it instead of loading the cylinder by hand. :) Pull back the plunger, load the grease tube and screw the cap back on, release the plunger.
@AJRestoration Жыл бұрын
The cap on the back of this one has been spot welded on 4 places in a cross pattern. I thought it should screw loose but it seems to be like that from factory.

Thank you for another great video. Humble suggestion: try tumbling nuts, bolts, and other small hardware in a jar of sandblasting medium. Less labor intensive than wire wheeling them, and safer too. Regards.
@AJRestoration Жыл бұрын
That is a good idea actually, I plan on purchasing a tumbler and a ultrasonic cleaner soon.

Great one! I have a similar "gun" that was from my father. It works, but....maybe a little "massage" will render It to It's former glory...Thanks for the tutorial!

Already put to good use, like the oil can and the compressor. Quick question - how long did the restoration take that got compressed to 23min of video?
@AJRestoration Жыл бұрын
This one took about 4 days, working about 7 to 8 hours a day.

Who'd have thought the restoration of a grease gun would be so interesting. And this certainly came out better than when it was new. Do you know if the S bend in the nozzle was as manufactured, or was it custom bent?
@AJRestoration Жыл бұрын
I am not sure if it was custom bent, it probably was but I do prefer it like this. Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it!

Good job, the result came out very nice! Had my pleasure, thank you! Dear AJ, please tell me: if it is made in England, why does it use metric-sized nuts (e.g. 21mm but not 13/16 or 27/32)? Are they original?
@AJRestoration Жыл бұрын
I am not sure if these bolts are original, it seems to be the same age and wear as the grease gun. Someone might have swapped them out at some time.

I absolutely love how China has stolen all the great engineering advancements (like this British-made grease gun), then cheapened them down to pot-metal imitations that they sell back to us🥰
