I believe you can make your home beautiful on a thrifty budget! Goodwill wants to price at antique store retail prices. However, they don’t curate them, clean them, and stage them. They go by eBay asking prices, not eBay sold prices. They say they want to compete with the resellers. The resellers, the antique, and decorators will not pay those prices. It is Sad because that is not goodwills mission. I have a booth,therefore I resell. I will go into goodwill and walk out empty handed 95% of the time. Not worth my time anymore. I will see over priced items and know that as a reseller, I will not buy it. Their mission is to help those in need. Someone in need is not going to pay that price neither. They are not mission focused anymore. I used to shop there and buy things knowing I was helping their mission. I can’t support that anymore.

I’ve been feeling that same frustration! I find better things at local affordable antique malls. It’s true about them no longer being mission oriented anymore. In my youth Goodwills for for the poor and needy and now they are just competing with resellers. A lot of it is corporate greed unfortunately. Let’s not forget the stuff is all donated. I know they have to pay employees but then again- they always had to do that. Yep, it’s a bit disheartening 😢

It is sad that they are not sticking to a price point that is affordable to those in need. However, you have just admitted to being a reseller which is one of the reasons they hike their prices up.

@@alexisd8190 agreed. As much as I enjoy watching the resellers you tube channels - I really do think they impacted the thrift store pricing. They’re on to them and everyone is paying the price for it. I respect that that’s how many makes living. I use to have an antique booth back in the day when they were more affordable - before the KZbin craze. Our girl Julie just buys for herself and others❤️Commendable! Her angle is educating decor on a budget.

Fun trip, but frustrating 'cause you went so fast! I move at a snail's pace when I'm in my favorite antique store! Check out those vintage Tupperware iced tea spoons!---I meant to tell you that I bought 4 Christmas stockings (exactly the number the thrift store had, that I needed) to put my kids' gift boxes in instead of sending over these little boxes by themselves! I got that notion from one of your Thriftmas shopping trips!

You can slow it down by changing the settings. I prefer to watch at x2 speed but I would never ask Julie to speed it up for my convenience.

The video was relaxing! I’m nursing a cold, so it was nice to sit on the couch with my feet up watching your video. The bowl looks like a great find. In Arizona, we have a 20% off coupon for purchases over $20. That makes it worthwhile sometimes especially for clothing. Although I’m buying more new clothing on sale, sometimes it’s a better deal.

Thrift stores have gone up in price because of resellers. They can claim otherwise , but it's true. I've been thrifting for years and remember when a large crystal vase would be under $10 and now the same will go for double or more. I'm in Canada and the prices are far higher here than the States. It's frustrating when you see something you like thinking it's under $10 only to get sticker shock when you see it go for $15 or more.

@@nikkim788I’m in Ontario and I’ve stopped shopping and donating at Value Village for the same reason. The last several times, the cashier at GoodWill will lower the price if I mention something about a stain or missing piece.

Prices have gone up everywhere. I noticed even on the prices on Burger King coupons have gone up. I still shop at Goodwill because not all items are expensive and I'm still getting a deal. That's my opinion.

Loved that store ...I have no idea how I could have lifted that butter churn crock or what I'd done with..bit I loved it. I have about a dozen of those plaid towels in pieces of fabric..I've made pillows of some..table covers..over some if my appliances..love them. Take care.

I am so THRILLED that you found that crockery bowl for ONLY $12.00‼️ And no cracks or chips......* *AH-MAZE-ING FIND❣️🤎🤍 I also loved that 8 gallon crock, because it looked free of damage - and $165.00 is a very good price for one in pristine condition❣️🙂 The tiny oil lamp was an excellent price, too, because the tiny lamps are very scarce nowadays. I have been a collector for 55 years, and my parents were Antique Dealers for 45 years. Tiny lamps like those are so difficult to find because they were the lamps used to carry from room to room in homes at night, and many ended up broken from so much handling and thrown away. Supply is small for collectors and demand is high, so that's why you typically see tiny lamps at higher prices than their full size counterparts. It's rare for me to see 2 or 3 tiny lamps per year, and many times their chimneys are missing. Wish I had been there!! So far love the fabric boxes! And that bowl for 12.00 is really a great price. Even with those cracks I would have been very tempted for that butter churn jug😂 Yikes that vintage little oil lamp was adorable but 55.00?😮 I just picked up 2 vintage ones not as small but for 3.00 each at my local thrift store! Score! 😂 Okay I my have dug up some mini bottle brush trees for a couple of my brass candlesticks😂 Love your haul!! Yaaay you bought the 12.00 bowl!! Score Julie! *Hi Karen! Perhaps you don't know, so I thought I would share with you why that tiny oil lamp was $55.00 - I am a collector of 55 years and my parents were Antique Dealers. The reason the tiny oil lamps are so expensive nowadays is because they are very scarce. These were the lamps that were carried around from room to room at night - and from so much handling, most got broken and thrown away.
