That was the first video or anyone mention digging with a knife oor about sanitation. Having said that I’m not as backward nor uneducated as that my sound. I learned about slit trenches in the military and used one with a house that I had with no running. About the same situation I had as a child except there we had an outhouse. To avoid the smell, flies, etc. I used a slit trench finding it better. As a medic I was often tasked with a sanitation briefing prior to a FTX. I also dig with a kukri. My first maid taught me to use a machete for many things digging, shovelling, and scooping. In my country a machete is king. However I’ve taken a liking to kukris. I can’t say one is better than the other, only different. I frequently have a kukri when gardening, they are smaller than a machete, and dig with it, mainly uprooting unwanted plants. I only have one kukri that is dedicated for ground strikes, as I only use one machete for such jobs. Glad to see someone showing a kukri as a multiple useful tool rather than a chopper.

Say Heah Blackie, Very thoughtful. Yup, something alot of us should think of for the others. Yeah, I love my Khukuris and Kukuri, But a few years ago at my Discount Pharmacy/Grocery Store, they have closeouts, I buy alot of my out of doors gear. Like a Grill, I put over a fire, easy peasy to carry after I made a cover for it. I also bought a little Garden Shovel, it's a Blackie Decker, heh heh heh, But, Heah, it's compact and easy peasy to carry, I simply Molle attach it to my pack. But yeah, nature calls even if your in a Picard situations even if your away or somehow detached from your gear. So yeah, being thoughtful shows character. Thanx You, Blackie.,,. p

Been using the Cold Steel Kukri machete. Had to cushion the handle for chopping, and added an across the back of the hand lanyard to keep the handle safely in my grip. Great tool. I hadn't considered the knife.

Nicely done. A Japanese Hori-Hori knife is also good for camping.

Those kukri knives are valuable in the field as woodsman tools.

Not possible to do this in Norway. The ground is hard as a rock,frosen several meters deep. Just have to take a dump in the snow,looks rather nasty,but hey. Some snow over it and people get a nice suprise in the summer haha

I think Gurkha people really knew what they made. They were using it for digging probably from beggining. They knew its perfect tool for many options to use.

Ok, after you have used your kukri to dig the hole, what do you use to..... clean up, in the wild? Proper hygiene might make an informative subject to cover.

where would an individual purchase a quality Kukri like that?
field sanitation has always been a big problem during ww2 the Germans didn't follow good sanitation practices and so the had many cases of typoid and men off the line because of it, Romel was suufering from a case of it and was sent home to recuperate. While the American and British practiced decent sanitation and had few cases of typhoid. Burn your KYBO tickets then cover all

Hi Blackie! I had to buy myself a Gurhka Kukhuri from the Ex-Gurkha house.... I have seen all of your Kukhuri vids and BP-Revolver vids and thought to myself “this is exactly what I need outdoors & on my fishing/camping trips, a versatile tool that can be used for allmost anything “ When I got my Kukhuri I was a little confused about one of the two small knives in back of the Kukhuri was really blunt, I mean both the edge and the back of the knife looked the same, both sides were ca. 5mm wide and flat......?! You could’nt cut anything with it... Is this how it’s supposed to be like? I really like your videos btw keep up the good work!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

the two little knives are meant to be sharpening aids for keeping a profiled edge and deburring the edge on your Kukri . some are useful , but most are not depending on the heat treatment .
@tommygun26686 жыл бұрын
Thanks campfiretrickery! Makes sense, but if it works is another issue 😉
@SeemsLogical6 жыл бұрын
To build off of what campfiretrickery told you 10 months ago, the two little knives you get are called a karda and a chakmak. The chakmak is left thick and unsharpened because it's meant to be used as a honing steel. You run it along the edge after each use to remove any burrs from the blade. The karda is just a small utility knife that can be used to do the things the khukuri is just too big for.

Butt can it be used to vipe yourself behind with a kukri. In the old days in Norway we used something called a shitstick,for real.No wc or toilet paper back then so they used a stick and when done,they just stuck it in a crack in the log wall. Whole familys used the same shitstick haha it is super nasty i think,but true. I would not liked to share the stick;-))

do you use the kukri to clean your butt ??

I will never use a sharp knife for a digging tool, I'll use my Sharp knife to make a digging stick, then 5 seconds later you said digging stick
