Hindustani Classical Vocal is like a vast ocean that has many treasured jewels hidden in its belly. Classic Collection of Vishmadev Chatterjee - vol 1 is a special collection of the Genre Hindustani Classical Vocal. The name of Vishmadev Chatterjee, sparkles in the history of Hindustani Classical music as an extraordinary genius singer. He could wander around the different fields of music but he used to sing basically Khyal. Here he increased his versatility. He embossed the impression of his creativity in almost every field of music and later Vishmadev Chatterjee became a legendary figure of Hindustani Classical Vocal.
The maestro, Vishmadev Chatterjee was born on 8th November 1909 at Sarai village near Pandua station of Hooghly district in West Bengal. He started his musical Career at the age of five and became famous as child genius. His parents were Ashutosh Chattopadhyay and Prabhabati Devi. He brought up in Kolkata. Later Vishmadev Chatterjee was admitted at Sanskrit Collegiate School.
Vishmadev Chatterjee had taken his initial training on Classical music from Shri Nagendranath Datta. Later on Khalifa Badal Khan of Delhi gharana had taught him, for fourteen years. At the age of twelve his first record was published from HMV under prestige label with two tappas of Nidhubabu. Later Vishmadev Chatterjee joined Megaphone Record Company in the year 1933 as a Music Director cum Trainer. During this year Megaphone published his record on Khyal based on Malkaush and Aasha raga. Megaphone Company had released many of his records on Khyal and Thumri based on different ragas.
This volume contains some very famous Hindustani Classical Songs which are beautifully presented by Vishmadev Chatterjee. Vishmadev Chatterjee shows his mastery over time signatures and melody through these Compositions. The listener can relive and cherish their special moment over and over again with these Classic Collection of Vishmadev Chatterjee.
