possibly the greatest world cup match ever- i remember watching it on the edge of my seat hoping that italy would win- any team with gerd muller in it was hard to beat- he didnt really score memorable goals but he scored a lot of them- he was a machine

Gravity-defying assist by Uwe Seeler. Uwe was captain in the final against England in 66. After the famous Hurst goal was given (over the line if you're English but not in you're German ;) you can see him telling his team mates to leave the lineman alone. Had the pleasure of showing him round London. Very friendly guy. Uwe told me the teams visited each other for many years afterwards. He used to go and stay with Bobby Charlton.

I saw this game in person when I was 8 years old from my dad's skybox. I still remember the emotion of the goal at second half, Mueller's goal, seeing Beckenbauer with his arm (I didn't understand the effort, even though everyone was talking about it) and my sadness when Germany lost. Since then, I have been an admirer of German culture. Nowadays, I always sustain that Italy emptied during this game and for them was impossible to sustain the physical effort during the 2nd half against Brazil at Mexico City 2,300 meters of altitude (If you see the Final game, the first half was equilibrated). 16 years later, I saw Diego from the same seats

They had no choice, they were out of subs @@everper127 . It was only 2 replacements allowed at that time. However, it was the first world cup allowed to use subs at all.

Possibly the best game ever played. Italy went up early and Germany had to try to break the Italian catenaccio for almost the entire game until they finally did so. They already had an unbelievable extra time game vs England in the quarterfinal when they turned a 2-0 deficit around to win 3-2. That character they had made this game so great I think.

I would love a recap of the 54 final in 4k. The files that are there have very good quality to be remastered in 2160p and 60 fps. You do a great job, that no one had the idea to do. Every stupidity is remastered with AI and these audiovisual archives so important for the history of sports are forgotten. Thank you very much!!

@@Alessandro-B He died a couple of weeks ago. He first played for Germany in 1958 and bowed out in 1971 but only won 47 caps as he was ignored for years because he played abroad.

I was ten and following it on the radio. What a match!!! One of the best matches of the 20th century. Unforgetable! Two great teams. But Brazil was on the top! At this time football was not yet corrupted by money. It was pure joy, pleasure, fair play, respect.

This is football at its finest ever. I get so emotional when I see this match highlights. Mullers razor sharp reflexes, Rivas left foot, Riveras precise winner. In a way, good that Germany lost because it would have been tiring to play a rampant Brazil in the final. Italy were just about able to ward off Germanys challenge. The 1982 loss to Italy in the final came after a tiring semi final win over France.

Tanti saluti da Bologna, citta' la cui squadra di calcio nei lontani anni 30 e 40 del secolo scorso giocava contro rivali ungheresi in tornei europe,i diversi dagli attuali, ma non meno importanti.l

Schnellinger's goal prevented Italy from playing on a level playing field with Brazil. In the first half the match was balanced, but in the second half the Italians were tired from playing overtime and Brazil won easily.

Alemania debió ganar, el árbitro no cobró un penal para Alemania. Beckenbauer jugó el suplementario lesionado, vean el 4to gol de Italia, parado estaba el Kaiser además cansados porque el partido anterior habían jugado un partido duro con Inglaterra y fueron a suplementario. En cambio Italia había tenido un partido fácil con México.

I rarely see world cup matches with 7 goals and high number of shots on target by both sides, Italy was so drained after this match they lost final to Brazil and Pele 1-4

So, Italy was drained just because they played 30 minutes longer some days before the final? This does not make any sense at all. The fact is that Brazil was much much better than any other team back then. Its just an excuse to justify the defeatz which, looking in hindsight, was inevitable.

@@thicarpel Brazil with Pele,Tostao,Jairzinho is of course the best team in the world but The intensity of the game with Germany so drained the Italy they lost (1-4 ?), in fresher condition maybe they could hold Brazil to 1-2, or 0-2 defeat.

The first time I saw highlights from this game I was not that impressed, being used to the power football of the 21cent. Now that I watched this again with a different approach, it truly stands out as a unique game, a gem from an era of gentlemen and heroic fighters.

One could tell, by the players body language , the altitude made them extrenuosly exhausted. They overcame it, but the German game based on athletic strength , it suffered.

No less than six penalty kicks could and should have been awarded to the Germans. The referee was so busy watching the ball he failed to see that time after time Gerd Muller was held, kicked and tripped and was flat on his face when the ball finally passed across the Italian goalmouth.

4K 50 fps? You are using a 1970 TV broadcast as a source, not a film. There is no magic to enhance it to look better than the original, no matter how high you set the resolution and the bitrate. Either you are clueless about how digital video works or this is done as a clickbait.
